Part 1   Part 2   Part 3   Part 4  Part 5

Gabriel felt like he was being lifted…He felt hands holding him and when he opened his eyes he saw Dean carrying him somewhere that was dark and Gabriel felt every step Dean was going down... It jarred at him, causing his wound to feel like it was on fire and Gabriel couldn’t help the yelp that came from him, causing Dean to stop and look to him, now aware that he was awake.

“You just want to walk?” Dean asked and when Gabriel didn’t respond he kept going, all too aware of the pained expression on Gabriel’s face…

“Hurry up, Sam! He’s fading!”  Dean yelled over his shoulder even as he passed over a devil’s trap and went into an iron-walled shelter, and Gabriel could smell the salt drenching the iron, and even saw a Devil’s trap in the ceiling…It was the panic room…

There was a crash as Sam ended up tripping on a loose step and fell down the stairs, his contents spilling out of his arms.

Sam cursed loudly and got up with a grimace, getting the items he’d dropped and running into the room. He placed sheets onto the bed down there before Dean put Gabriel down there carefully.

Gabriel then became aware that he was still holding the two swords and he released them from his grip, both falling with two loud clangs to the floor.

Gabriel watched as they grabbed a knife and shredded Gabriel’s shirt…It was a shame…he’d really liked that shirt…

“Well, the wound has started healing on its own already…but we need to disinfect it and all that and stitch it up…” Sam muttered as he pulled out of a kit something that smelled strongly of alcohol.

“You’re going to try and stitch me up? That’s rich….seeing as I saw how clumsily you did your own wounds back with all the mystery spot stuff….Don’t stitch me up…just bandage the wound or whatever…I…I’ll heal…” Gabriel said weakly, getting a surprised look from Sam and Dean at the mention of the Mystery spot.

“Your memory!” Sam yelped and Gabriel let his eyes fall onto Sam…

“Almost dying does wonders…though there are still gaps and stuff I need to rediscover….I remember the majorly important stuff…He muttered as he made a doppelganger appear, even as he closed his eyes and allowed them to do what they needed to clean the wound.

“And that includes how to jam Luci back into his cage,” His doppelganger said, Dean yelping at the second one and Gabriel only smirked and made it disappear.

“Oh…and by the way, Crowley put a tracer in your car…I noticed it ages ago but of course I didn’t know what it was…Ah… how I missed my-OW! SON OF A FREAKING BITCH!” He yelped as one of the boys pressed hard on his wound, causing another fresh wave of fiery pain through him. He opened his watering eyes and saw it was Dean doing that.

“What does it look like?” He asked tersely, looking very pissed.

“Coppery and rustic looking…about the size of a quarter…it was under your seat…” Gabriel muttered painfully as Dean ran from the room.

“What, no thank you, Gabriel?!” He yelled after him. Sam gently pushed Gabriel back after pulling the jacket and shirt off of him, exposing his bare chest and Gabriel raised a brow and looked to Sam.

“Is that really necessary or are you trying to come onto me?” He asked with sarcasm to his voice.

“Gabriel, get your mind out of the gutter, you know I’m straight. I just need to be able to put the bandages on without the shirt and coat interfering…”

Gabriel grimaced and turned his head away, “And no, that wasn’t me saying anything about attraction towards you by the way, that would be disgusting…I prefer women.” Gabriel said as he felt himself slipping into unconsciousness.

“Of course Gabriel,” Sam said with a laugh even as Gabriel closed his eyes, seeing nothing but darkness…

When he next woke it was to see Sam reading a paper and there was the stench of…

Gabriel sat up and looked at the doorway, Crowley stood there, just outside the devil’s trap.

“Well hello there, Gabriel,” Crowley said smoothly and Gabriel let out a breath of air as he sat up. He found someone had put a T-shirt on him and his wound burned angrily. He was not sure how many days had passed but he knew that Crowley was there with information that he had told the boys…

“Crowley…What are you doing here?” He asked with a growl to his voice and Sam looked up from his book.

“Aren’t you one of Hell’s most wanted right now?” Gabriel asked as he started to get up but winced horribly and cursed in enochian even as he got up.

“Kind of, but from what I hear, you are the most wanted right after Sam,” Crowley said, eyes glinting mischievously. Crowley knew he had peaked Gabriel’s interest as the angel stepped closer.

“Oh and by the way, I was charged your…watchdog as Dean called it. Sam there is not really…Sam,” And Crowley clapped his hands and the illusion was gone.

“Clever,” Gabriel grunted, “Now tell me what is it you heard?” Gabriel asked as he got closer towards the door and noticed that Crowley had been trapped in a basement lined with salt outside those doors. Crowley though seemed way too calm about it to have been forced into the situation.

“They all know you escaped alive, and now that they know you’re stance, that you’re with the Winchesters, well, they know they’re going to have a harder time with them. Oh and by the way, I also heard about QUITE a temper tantrum Lucifer threw. I actually went to the hotel about a day ago. It was completely destroyed, in ruins. He is very pissed that you somehow managed to live through his attack in time to take the boys and yourself away,” Crowley drawled on, trying to stroke Gabriel’s ego, and succeeding slightly.

“Wait…you said a day ago…How long have I been out?” Gabriel asked as he lifted up the shirt by the wound and peeled off the bandage to look at the stab wound. It was half healed.

“About a week…and hm…How did you survive that? Looks like it went through to your heart, maybe just short of it…” Crowley muttered as Gabriel put the bandage back in place.

“It got close enough,” Gabriel said as he noticed his blade resting bare bladed on the desk and he got it, sheathing it in his leathery crystal sheath on his belt. He winced at almost every movement he made.

Gabriel looked to Crowley and looked him over for a moment, silently reading what emotions he could off of the demon.

“Self preservation will get you to do anything to get on their good side won’t it?” He asked with a knowing smirk. Crowley just smiled.

“You’re bloody right. I don’t quite want those morons snuffing me out,” Crowley said with a smile as he crossed his arms.

“Hn. I also know what you were planning to do with Bobby’s soul…You’ve not quite gone to him yet…but you will eventually,” Crowley clapped his hands in mock amazement.

“Bravo, bravo…you’ve seen the future…yet your being alive has actually changed it ALL,” Crowley said and Gabriel sat down with a wince and a nod.

“I know, in fact, my being alive means we can track the Horsemen sooo much easier. Much easier than you could actually,” He said as he placed his hand to the wound and tried to heal it, but it resisted his attempts….That’s what a blade designed to kill an angel would do…

“Now…you’ve done your job…vamoose!” Gabriel said as he flicked his hand, two things happening, one the tiniest bit of salt was blown away, two he sent Crowley off to California. Gabriel muttered something and replaced the salt. Then he contemplated walking up the stairs and going in that way, but he was sure that he didn’t want to deal with the pain of his wound so…

He blinked and he had sent himself up to Bobby’s den. He saw that no-one was in there and then looked to the study and saw Bobby immersed in his research.

“Having any luck?” Gabriel asked as he walked over to Bobby and sat down in the nearest chair he could find.

Bobby sighed and looked up to Gabriel, bags under his eyes…It was clear he hadn’t had any sleep in days.

“No…and where’s Crowley?” He asked tiredly.

“I sent him on his merry little way, though not before he told me I’m most wanted right after Sam…” Gabriel muttered and that got a look of shock from Bobby.

“Wow, Lucifer really is pissed…,” Bobby muttered as he marked the tome he had been reading and looked up to Gabriel.

“So what do you remember?” Bobby asked curiously as Gabriel shifted in his chair and frowned in thought.

“Everything up to about…Telling the virgin Mary about Jesus,” He said after a moment’s thought.

“Damn…Two thousand and ten years worth of memories came back to you, all in a blink of the eyes?” Bobby asked, Gabriel shook his head.

“No…more like three minutes worth of pain and a sword in the chest,” Gabriel said calmly. Bobby grimaced sympathetically.

“I’d hate to regain memories on the brink of death…” He muttered, and Gabriel shrugged.

“You know what the weird thing is? I was supposed to die. That was literally the point in time I was supposed to die, memories or not, but I didn’t…,” He said as he pulled the amulet out from under the shirt. The boys had left him with it. Bobby’s eyes widened.

“How do you have that? Dean’s always had it…” He muttered.

“Up until they found out this couldn’t find God..I really don’t understand why Dean tried to get rid of it…But I got a hold of it and kept it…I think that’s what saved me actually…because I felt it burn hot and then my Father was there…” He muttered and Bobby blinked.

“God was in the building there?” He asked in shock, Gabriel nodded.

“I’m pretty sure he made it so I had more of a chance to survive…” Gabriel muttered as he looked the amulet over again the gold shining brilliantly in the light.

“Now…the million dollar question…Where are the boys?” Gabriel asked, Bobby looked away and Gabriel knew instantly that something had happened.

“They…got word of Lucifer’s whereabouts…They couldn’t wait for you to recover, or he would have been long gone…” Bobby muttered, “I’d been keeping an eye on you as best I could but you know I can’t go down the stairs so I enlisted Crowley’s help. He voluntarily trapped himself down there by lining it with salt so that other demons couldn’t try and sneak up on him, that and he didn’t know what your reaction to him would be, so he took a huge risk…”

“When was the last you heard from the mooks?” Gabriel asked as he got up with a grimace, he didn’t bother tucking the amulet under his shirt.

“Two days ago, they were almost to where the devil was supposedly holed up,” Bobby said, eyes on Gabriel as the angel stood up. He looked like he was going to go somewhere when the cell the boys had gotten for him rang.

He frowned and shot a look of confusion at Bobby who shrugged and took his phone out of the right jeans pocket and looked at the caller id, eyes widening. He answered the call putting the phone to his ear.

“Cass? What the heck? What happened to you?” He asked into the phone and Castiel’s tired voice explained that he’d been found on a boat in a coma and he’d just woken from it.

“Where are you?” He asked, Castiel gave him the place and he hung up, vanishing even as Bobby started to say something.

Gabriel arrived at the hospital, right outside Castiel’s room. He worked through the pain of his wound as he went into the room and smiled at his brother sadly. Castiel was covered with bruises and scrapes and he felt bad for his sibling. Not to mention that Castiel was now powerless.

Castiel had been halfway through pulling on the black coat that he usually wears when Gabriel came in. Gabriel took one look at him and said…

“You have Dean’s amulet…” He draped the trenchcoat over an arm as he approached Gabriel.

“Yeah, I’ve had it for a while,” He said before getting a firm grip on Castiel’s arm and then vanishing with him, appearing in Bobby’s study again.

Gabriel let go of Castiel and tried to hide the pain he was in, but his expression didn’t go unnoticed by Bobby.

“Damn it Gabriel, lay down and REST. You need it in order for your wound to heal! Why else do you think the boys left you behind? They didn’t want you getting hurt again while you’re recovering!” Bobby snarled, wheeling over to Gabriel and practically pushing the chair into him and forcing him over to the couch.

“Now lay down there and rest you idjit, while I talk to the other idjit here and let him know what’s happened since he blasted himself to Oz,”  Bobby grumbled as Castiel looked at both with a raised brow as Gabriel muttered something in encochian before he carefully lay down on the couch, instants later getting a blanket and pillow thrown at him.

Gabriel glanced back to see Bobby had done that, and reluctantly put the pillow under his head and shifted, yelping when his wound sent a fiery pang of pain through him again. He let out a huff as Bobby yelled for him to man up.

“You try getting stabbed like I did!” Gabriel snarled, Bobby didn’t respond except for yelling for Gabriel to go back to sleep.

Gabriel reluctantly obeyed and went to sleep. He wasn’t sure how long he had slept for, but when Castiel was shaking him awake, he knew it was not a good sign.

“Nnngh, what is it Cass?” He muttered as he sat up, aware of there being no pain now…

“They’ve been cornered, Gabriel…it was a trap...”  Castiel said, blue eyes piercing his hazel.

“Nnngh, when did you learn of this?” He asked as he got up, heading for the stairs, Castiel on his tail.

“Just now,” He said stumbling on a step, “And you’ve been out for two days,” He added before Gabriel could ask.

“Give me a minute,” Gabriel growled at his younger sibling before stalking into the room he’d been in last time and saw the bags that had his items in it.

He quickly changed into an outfit but as he was changed shirts he looked to his chest. There was no sign of the wound at all. He let out a breath of relief and pulled on one of his blue T- shirts, then a gray coat and switched jeans, though making sure to take his cell out of the old ones first, and strap his sword to the inside of the coat. He came out and went up to Castiel, he kept the amulet out in plain sight. He didn’t care who saw it anymore.

“Where are they?” Gabriel asked his younger brother.

“Stapleton, Nebraska, they couldn’t tell me what street they were on, they said they lost track when they were running,” Castiel said, a strain of panic in his voice.

Gabriel put a hand on Castiel’s shoulder.

“Calm down, we’ll find them,” He said calmly, “I’m going to take us in invisible, alright? But first…. BOBBY! WE’RE GOING! SALT THE WINDOWS AND DOORS!” He yelled, Castiel flinching at his raised voice, but Gabriel didn’t pay attention to Castiel’s reaction even as Gabriel made them both vanish….
