I haven't updated in ages. I got sick a week ago, first with severe flu and now with the added bonus of tonsillitis. I think I might be finally getting better though.
Classes at university started on Monday. I only missed one class because of fever, but I went to every other class, completely ignoring the fact that other people might be infected with what I have. I called in sick to work though, no point in overdoing this conscientiouness-thing.
In other good news, one of my hard drives crashed a few weeks back, taking with it 160 GB of music to bit-heaven. Fortunately I had copies of some of my stuff at work. At the moment I have about 7 GB of music in my iTunes, and I will add more as soon as I get around to sorting through the rest of my back ups, and making new mp3:s of my CD:s. But actually I'm surprised at how much music can fit into 7 GB (according to iTunes, it takes 3,3 days to listen through it). What the hell did I ever do with 160 GB of music? Certainly not listening to it.
Losing my stash of music made me realize how much shit I've accumulated on my hard drive. There are very few files that I find truly important, most of them photos. I'll try to keep things more lean in the future. I have a a bad habit of collecting everything that sounds interesting, but the truth is, I don't have time to go through everything I have. Better to have just a few hundred albums that I cherish and love, than several thousands that I never listen to. (Before the crash, I had over 11 000 mp3 files.)
I've been playing with my
last.fm account today. I've had it for 2 1/2 years. It's funny how some artists that I haven't listened to in two years still hang around on my Top-50 artists list. I've actually been trying to listen to certain artists just to get
ムック to fall off from my front page. I hate that band, and can't get how I've actually listened to them more than some other bands I love... (Although I did listen to their "6" album way too many times when I wrote a review of it.)
Queen is my second most played artist, with 536 plays, but looking at my rolling charts for the past year reveals that I haven't listened to them much at all in a year. Well, everything goes in cycles, nothing to worry about. :) But when I truly fall in love with a new artist, they can rise in my charts pretty quickly, take Rainbow for example. They're my 15th most played artist, with 199 plays, and I have only listened to them since August. Well, that one week when I listened to Rainbow compulsively might explain things:
