I got back from L.A. two days ago, and I'm still feeling a bit disoriented. The trip was great, and when it was time to go home, I felt I would have wanted to stay longer. Fortunately I had time to do most of the things I wanted, so all in all I'm pretty satisfied with everything. :)
Within the last two years I've managed to visit all three cities (Tokyo, London, Los Angeles) on my "where to go next"-list. I think I need to think of some new destinations, even though I wouldn't mind going back to any of those three cities. What I love about L.A. is that even though it's a big city, it's also got many beaches, so if you're tired of city life, you can just spend the day at the beach. Also, there are lots and lots of good concerts in LA. Unfortunately none of them happened to coincide with our visit... Still, there was so much to see, that 12 days went by really fast.
What truly made the trip great for me was that I had a chance to get to know
erikagoo. Thank you Erika, without you LA wouldn't have been half as nice! ♥
I'm hoping I'll have the energy to write about my trip before I start to forget. But until then, I'll leave you with some photos.
Our plane, a Boeing 747-400 (Jumbo Jet), at Heathrow airport.
Our hotel, seen from the street (Sunset Boulevard).
Our rental car, a Ford Mustang convertible, on the hotel parking lot. I loved driving this car!
Driving down Sunset Boulevard.
Me and Erika at the
Rainbow.
With Erika at Universal Studios.
One of the two Hard Rock Café's in Los Angeles is located at Universal studios. From left to right: Johnny, Erika, me and Mike.
Tommy Lee's (from Mötley Crüe) drumset at the HRC.
I did manage to see some Mötley Crüe sights: This is their hand prints at the
Rock Walk.
I also spotted their star at
Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The hand- and footprints outside
Grauman's Chinese Theatre were the ones that started it all. Johnny Depp's prints from 2005 were something I didn't see on my last visit.
There's a good view of the
Hollywood sign from the
Kodak Theatre where the Oscar's are held. (And yes, I know the sign doesn't show up properly on this picture...)
We ventured down to Tijuana, Mexico, which was not one our best ideas. There was nothing there of interest. The next time I go to Mexico, I want to see the real Mexico, not some horrible tourist trap.
I'm glad I got to swim in the Pacific Ocean. The waves were huge (not visible in the picture), and the water was so warm, despite of the locals trying to tell me otherwise. (They have obviously never tried to swim in Finland.)
After a day at the beach, it's time for some rock n' roll. With Gilby Clarke (of Guns n' Roses fame) at the
Cat Club.
I had a chance to fullfill one of my lifelong dreams: with Donald Duck at Disneyland.
Trying on a Jack Sparrow hat at Disneyland.
With Erika on my last night in LA.
Meeting Lemmy from Motörhead during our last night at the Rainbow really made the trip complete. :) I love how he looks like a total maniac in this picture!
