About the Twilight Fandom
I've been hearing this a lot lately and it's really starting to bother me, so I thought I would express my thoughts about it here.
Lately I've been hearing from some people in the Twilight fandom, about how much they are starting to dislike the growth of the Twilight saga's popularity, so much that some are starting to dislike the book.
I find those thoughts kind of stupid because I know that when I finished reading Twilight the first thing I wanted to do was tell everyone I knew to read this amazing book. So why not welcome all the new fans with open arms? I know they are naive about the series and a little annoying, but I think we can spare a little patience and introduce new people to the world of Twilight and let them enjoy it as much as we older fans do. I don't consider myself that much of an old fan myself, I started reading the books around October of last year, but back then the fandom was still not as big as it is today. And all the fame is to be expected with a big blockbuster movie coming out so soon and the release of the last book right around the corner, but still I think some TwiHards are being a little to hard on the newcomers. I for one welcome everyone, the more the merier and the more discussions that can be had. I understand how some people who have been with the series from the start may feel overwhelmed by the huge increase in popularity, but for that to ruin your enjoyment of the books I think is a little ridiculous.
I just wanted to express my thoughts about it, because i've been hearing so many negative comments on the subject and I've been through this before with Harry Potter, which I started reading almost 10 years ago when they were not popular at all and then everything went haywire, but i'm still a Harry Potter fan and I will always be a Harry Potter fan and it can't thank JKR and the fandom enough for showing me how to read again. I lived through the popularity growth one and survived without ever losing my enjoyment of the books, I think I can do it again.
