What could be so wonderful?

So I went to a concert a few weeks ago with my good friend Jess. My first actual concert ever. And in this one concert, I got to see (and, you know, hear) not one, but two artists that I'm rather in love with. Howie Day and Missy Higgins. No, not together...unfortunately. She opened for him. So she sang about five or six songs (including "The Special Two," which just really made my night) before Howie Day graced the stage.

Oh, and by the way, Missy Higgins? Is one of the most adorable people I've ever met. During her song "This Is How It Goes," she tricked the audience into thinking the song was over. You know, stopping the music and holding out that last note. But when the audience started to cheer and applaud, she immediately started the song up again, grinned, and stuck out her tongue. Absolute cuteness. She sounded amazing, and I would love to see a full concert of just her sometime. And hee! I got my Sound of White album signed! *treasures*

Oh, yes. Howie Day was there, too. With his trademark crazy hair. I went and got myself heels-over-head obsessed with him about a week before the concert. Bought both his albums and downloaded a ton of non-album stuff (including a 30-minute live mpeg :D). And you know what? I'm really glad I did. Because the music was loud. Really, really loud. And if I hadn't known the songs and lyrics before-hand, I would've been completely lost. The energy was very contagious, and even though Howie was somewhat drowned out by the music, I loved every second.

By the way, I was right at the stage. Like, I could've jumped up, walked about seven feet, and hugged Howie if I'd really wanted to. Of course, I would've been kindly (or not-so-kindly) escorted away from the concert if I had. Howie's first words on the stage were, "You guys are kind of close, aren't you?" He got a lot of fangirly screams in response.

All in all, I had an awesome time and would see them both again in a heartbeat. And now...I went through and picked out some (and by some, I mean twenty) pictures of this lovely little concert. So, this cut is not dial-up friendly. Believe me, I know.

This is mainly just to show how close we all were. Hands on the stage! :D

Oh, yeah. Another guy also opened for Howie. Michael Tolcher? He was pretty cool.

Missy!

I believe she was singing "Scar" here, and it
sounded so much better than the album version.

See?! Adorable.

One of my "arty" shots of Missy. ("Arty" = taken without a flash.)

This is the bassist, as evidenced by the bass guitar. Aren't I clever?
Anyway, this is mainly to show the difference between flash/without flash
pics. This is with. Clear, but none of the actual colours.

Taken right after the previous one. Without a flash. Blurry, but a more
accurate representation of how it all looked.

Theeere he is. *sighs* He's so pretty.

Howie really is a big dork. I heart.

And now for some colourful!Howie shots.

Don't see him? Just look for the insanely spikey hair.

I'm rather attached to this one. I just love how it came out.

Okay, at some point, all the pictures I took of Howie made it look
like he was...orgasming. (I use that non-word to spite you, Eason.)
I give you exhibit A:

And exhibit B:

And, um, exhibit C:

And...exhibit D:

Proof that I'm not making all this up. In case you had any doubts.

Just a neat shot of the cello used for "Collide." Yay for smoky ambience!

Playlist. Alas, that 'Morning' at the bottom was, in fact, not
"Morning After," which is one of my favourites. But oh, well.
I'm really not complaining. :D

Oh, and because I'm so fabulous, I uploaded a few on-topic songs. Missy and Howie-related, I mean. All the Howie mp3s are covers, so if covers aren't your thing, beware. But if you do take something, I'd appreciate a comment.

Missy Higgins - The Cactus that Found the Beat
I really don't think there's any Missy song that I don't like. Her voice is just too captivating, and this song is so fun. She has such attitude. And honestly, how can I not love a song that has both "how I found my way to God" and "waves of ecstacy" as lyrics?

Howie Day - In the Sun
Howie Day does some of my favourite covers, and I've inflicted shared a bunch of them with anyone who'll listen. I just...love how he vocally mimics whoever he's covering. This is a Joseph Arthur cover. 'Tis pretty.

Howie Day - Slide
Who doesn't love the Goo Goo Dolls? Is there really anyone out there? I shudder to think. Anyway, I love "Slide." I love Howie. So naturally, I'd love a combo. And I say 'love' too much.

Howie Day - All Along the Watchtower/Halloween
Okay, the first part of this is a cover of a cover. Howie's covering Dave Matthews Band's cover of "All Along the Watchtower," and then he switches over to the DMB song "Halloween," then goes back and forth between the two. And um. It's amazing? Might I recommended listening to this song whilst gazing at the orgasming!Howie pics above. You'll thank me later. :D
