Color (prose poem)

Color- noun- That aspect of things that is caused by differing qualities of the light reflected or emitted by them, definable in terms of the observer or of the light (dictionary definition)

Sitting. Thinking. Counting the reasons, the ways one could feel. One should feel. The winter breeze. It reaches every pore, and scar, and pain. It makes the wounds less bearable. Yet tempts the mortal appetite. We are all starving after all. The road ahead extends, unfolds into eternity. A lettuce head, it ends much as it begins. But in the end, one finds a different name. A name to justify the journey made. A name assigned, but never felt or seen. The nameless framed upon the wall. A trophy, useless to the soul. Invisible to others. Each man and woman set apart. Of common blood and common creed. Each aimed for one white line. A single tree reaches towards the light. Overshadowed by a forest of many. Indifferent to the whole. The pigments blend, become one shade. All is one color in the end.
