It's that time of year again, isn't it?
A lot of people I know don't get very excited about Christmas. In fact to many people, the Christmas season is a stressful time of year. Well, I find the worst thing about the holiday is the fact that regular schedules are just thrown to the wind. I now have to wait until next year until my next writer's workshop, getting hold of people is tricky, and getting together almost impossible.
However, there's a lot of things I enjoy at this time of year. There is a sinful assortment of delicious chocolates and baked goodies for example. My favorites are shortbread cookies covered with unnaturally coloured sprinkles...(drool, drool)...5,000 calories of yummy goodness!
Fortunately, I don't have to shop for a ton of presents, but I do have to start somewhat early, since I do have to ship them places. This year seemed especially easy for shopping. It was a lot of gift cards and online shopping, which was fun. It almost doesn't feel like you're really spending money.
The biggest pain in the butt is my little 10-month-old nieces. I thought I'd get them savings bonds. Someone at work suggested I buy them online through the government website. Apparently, it's so easy...you just open an account and off you go. Unfortunately, the site wants confirmation from my bank that I say who I say I am, by filling out a form. Yes, yes, yes, I'm grateful for the security concerns, but I actually don't have time to go to my bank anytime soon.
So instead of being DONE with my Christmas shopping, I'm wondering if I'll actually be on time getting those savings bonds for my nieces.
I should just send them each an evil hippo.
