fuck.
My creative writing class, while beginners, is really spiffy!! I think I made a good choice deciding to try it out before knocking it because even though we're really covering the basics and from what I've heard I'm not going to be dealing with a lot of ""writers"", the professor is really neat and looks like Freddy Mercury. He repped my hometown on his shirt and meowed a bit today. Just where do you find teachers like that. There's a fair amount of writing involved in the 3 hour long class, both in and out of class which I was pleasantly surprised about but know I'll feel overwhelmed once the quarter begins to build momentum but until then I'LL DO IT.
I got really excited and volunteered to submit a 5-10 page story for the first critique workshop, except it's going to be due on Sunday for peer review and while I want to write a new, fresh original story, I don't know if I can cut out a story in such a short amount of time. I have a few ideas but a lot of them, because they're original and I want them to be relatable to a larger audience, are realistic and pertaining to my life without any trace of homoeroticism and I'm still wanting to write fanfics so it's a little difficult. If need be, I've already gotten a lot of original stuff I haven't used in a school setting so worst come to worst, I still have some material to fall back on, but I want to write new material and in new genres besides high-school-pure-love-romances.
Still, I need to start doing homework, I've been neglecting a lot of my reading and I'm starting to feel like I'm already trying to catch up even though all the stuff I've covered in class is not new stuff?? A lot of things covered are mostly common sense/things I already knew, so I'm hoping I got some cushioning before the bad stuff starts.
