Oh, my friends. I know I have been super terrible about posting this month, and I apologize. Life has just been crazy busy at all times, and will probably continue to be so for at least the next several weeks. I feel like my brain has been all over the place, trying to focus on nine million things at once and then forgetting half of them. Case in point: as I was typing those sentences, it suddenly occurred to me that I hadn't yet returned a call from a couple days ago. It is taking me at least a day to respond to even basic emails, things that I would normally respond right away to. And, this should really tell you how scattered I've been: yesterday, I went to the bank to deposit a check and take out some money, and totally walked away without the money. Didn't even realize it till about an hour later either. Fortunately, because I'd gone to a teller, she just put it back in my account, and when I returned it was fine, but that was definitely a special moment for me.
A lot of what's been going on (outside of work anyway) has been fun stuff, at least. Today, for instance, was the
Knitter's Frolic, which I went to with a bunch of the girls from my knitting group. A bunch of people went last year, but it was the weekend we were moving, so I obviously was not able to go. This year I carpooled with Meg, Ilana, and Ilana's mom, and we met up with Sarah and Kara there. Kim joined us a little later on, but Gabe unfortunately was frustrated by transit confusion and didn't make it out. I also ran into
kadenza there, because we often seem to bump into each other at knitting-related events, and saw a few other familiar faces as well. The girls and I had fun wandering the marketplace and petting/ogling all the pretty pretty yarn. There was so much lovely stuff and so much of it was soooo soft and nice to touch. Meg was super sweet and bought me a beautiful skein of silk/merino that was only $10! And Ilana's mom bought me lunch to thank me for driving everyone. It was fun times and I really enjoyed hanging out with everyone (and all the yarn).
After dropping everyone off, I was in Amy's neighborhood (Lynn, Meg and Amy all live within 5 minutes of each other, which is kind of convenient for me), so I called her to see if she wanted to hang out. The weather was absolutely gorgeous today - sunny and high teens temperature-wise, not too cold or too warm, just beautiful beautiful weather, and I wanted to soak in as much of it as possible. Amy was home, so I met her at her house and we went for a nice walk around the area, chatting and catching up with each other. She fell and broke her nose and orbital bone a few weeks ago (when we had those couple days of winter weather earlier in the month), but she's doing much better now, which I was glad to hear. It was nice to just walk around and talk about life and stuff, and also fun to just have an impromptu hang out, something I feel like doesn't happen very much anymore. If there's anything I miss about college, it's the ability to just pop over to a friend's dorm and find someone to hang out with, or get people together for fun times without advance notice and tons of planning.
Last weekend, I went to a brunch with the American Expat group I'm part of, which was good times. The weekend before that, I went out for a free yoga class with a new meetup group I recently joined. And next weekend, some of the girls and I are going to Canada's Wonderland, because Meg's sister-in-law had access to half price tickets for a special access day the day before the park opens to the general public. Sadly, Meg is no longer able to come with us, which we all feel kind of bad about, especially since we only have the tickets because of her, but I have no doubt that we'll all have a good time once we're there. But yeah, my point in all this is that that's 4 weekends in a row I'll have had stuff going on, on top of how crazy busy I've been at work (it's just that time of year; I will probably remain this busy there through May, and then have next to nothing to do in June), and you can see why I feel like I've hardly had time to breathe lately. I definitely have not had time to do any serious cleaning, and my house is a bit of a mess as a result. Hopefully I'll get some time to catch up on that soon!
Other than that, spring appears to really be here at last, and that is definitely something to be happy about. I will gladly take much more of weather like today's, please! And now I think my brain is shutting off, so I will end this entry here. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying the happy spring weather! Much love to all of you!
