Day 11- Put your iPod on shuffle and write ten songs that pop up.
Day 12- Bullet your whole day.

  • 6:21 am: Kind of half woke up, realized it was lighter in the room than I thought it should be, had a moment of panic that I'd overslept my alarm, checked the clock, went back to sleep for 9 minutes.
  • 6:30 am: Alarm went off. Internal grumbling. Morning routine: pee, wash hands, put contacts in, shower, dry off, wrap hair in towel, deodorant, lotion, remove towel, brush hair.
  • 7:10 am: Get dressed, blow dry hair, head downstairs to feed cat and give her fresh water, turn on laptop, pour cereal.
  • 7:30 am: Sit down on couch to check email and read webcomics while eating breakfast.
  • 7:35 am: Cat jumps on my lap for her morning cuddle. This generally slows the morning routine down a little, but really, how do you resist this face?

  • Exactly. You don't.
  • 7:45 am: Cat usually has a good sense of when I'm done and jumps off my lap. Put my laptop away, put my cereal bowl in the dishwasher, fill up my water bottle for the day, refill the Brita pitcher. Head upstairs to brush my teeth and put socks and shoes on.
  • 7:57 am: Kiss sleeping husband goodbye, put on coat and scarf, gather purse, work laptop, lunch and water bottle, head out the door to the parking garage.
  • 8:01 am: In the car and on the way. I think I'm going to be clever and avoid the 400 South since there's been a lot of traffic lately, so I take a different route to get to the 401 West.
  • 8:15/8:20ish am: Oh look. The 401 is a parking lot. Delightful. Not even a remote chance of me getting to work anywhere near 8:30 now.
  • 8:34 am: Parking lot magically disappears and traffic is moving along full speed again. Uh, sure, okay.
  • 9:00 am: Arrive at school number 4. Get set up in the VP's office because teachers are using the conference room. Ask secretary to send student down for me. Continue testing - lots of heavy sighs on his part.
  • 10:45 am: Finish testing, send student back to class. Begin scoring completed tests.
  • 11:30 am: Lunch time! Catch up on my google reader and a little bit of LJ while I eat.
  • 12:00 pm: Leave school number 4, drive to West Field Office.
  • 12:20 pm: Arrive at West Field Office, put a few papers in a student's file, sign off on it, small talk with the secretary.
  • 12:23 pm: Back in the car, off to the North Field Office.
  • 12:48 pm: Arrive at North Field Office, my real work home. Take the elevator up to the third floor, set up work laptop, record the day's mileage, put files away, brief chat with supervisor, get ready to work.
  • 1:00ish pm: Sign off on completed report, put on secretary's desk, send some emails, use scoring software to score two tests, verify scores, make a phone call to a student's aunt for some background information, work on report that was started yesterday, chat with coworkers in the office, get files needed for Monday.
  • 2:45 pm: Finish report, email to secretary, put file on her desk, check calendar, write dates and locations down for upcoming meetings, chat with coworkers, make list of assessments to be done before the end of the year.
  • 3:20ish pm: Shut down laptop, collect stuff, head out with coworker.
  • 3:28 pm: In the car, heading home.
  • 3:31 pm: Stop at the bank to deposit March mileage check and get a little cash for the weekend.
  • 3:39 pm: Back in the car!
  • 4:18 pm: Stop at library to pick up copy of Year of the Flood that's on hold for me. Can't wait to read it, but also have two other library books checked out!
  • 4:24 pm: Homeward bound.
  • 4:26 pm: Pull into the parking garage, get my crap out of my car, head upstairs, grab the mail, walk into the house, say hello to my husband. Put my crap away, deal with the mail, write a few post-dated rent checks for next year, start playing with my laptop: email, check the grocery store flyers, chat with Brad . . . get distracted in the middle of reading a blog and decide to start writing this entry, google html for bullet lists, start lj entry.
  • 5:50 pm: Get up to help Brad with dinner, start some water boiling for Velveeta, cut up lettuce for a salad, rinse lettuce, add croutons, put noodles in water, etc.
  • 6:24 pm: Sit down for dinner with Brad, watch some Simpsons and How I Met Your Mother while eating.
  • 6:45ish pm: Done dinner, grab laptop to continue writing this, resume reading blog and email. (Somewhere in here, read a horrifying email about how tuition at W&M is going up to $22k/year in-state and almost $45k a year out-of-state! That is obscene.)
  • 7:33 pm: Done with email, author blogs, and google reader. Now to catch up on my LJ friends page.
  • 8:05 pm: Brad comes down from getting a shower, so we get our shoes and coats on and get ready to head out to the grocery store to pick up some snacks. I also stopped keeping exact time at this point.
  • 8:20/8:30ish pm: Fortinos for snacks. Picked up triscuits, cookies, apples, and ice cream cookie sandwiches, yum.
  • 8:50ish pm: Head home again. Begin lengthy discussion about emotions and how people show them or don't and stuff. Eat ice cream cookie sandwiches.
  • 9:30/9:45ish pm: Cuddles on the couch. Cat joins in. A little bit of hockey updates on tv, then Brad resumes his video game, and I pick up my laptop. The day is not quite over yet, but I'm going to bullet what the rest of it will most likely entail, and post this now.
  • 10:10 pm: Posting this entry. Then will continue to catch up on friends' list, hopefully finish, depending on how many entries there are.
  • 10:30/11:00ish pm: Once caught up on LJ, will poke around facebook for a few minutes.
  • 11:00ish pm: Bed time routine. Hug and kiss husband goodnight, upstairs to take birth control, brush teeth, floss, pee, wash hands, take contacts out, and then sleep.

So, that's more or less a typical work day for me. I kind of want to do one of those day in the life things where I take pictures of various points of my day, but maybe I'll save that for another time. Anyway, I'm yawning already at 10:13, so I doubt I'll be up much past 11 tonight. G'night, kids.

me, life, bulleted day, 30 day words
