So APW has a book club, which I've mentioned. The first time I went, I had some lovely conversation with 3 awesome ladies, Chantelle, Kim and Darcy. Today was the second meetup, and it was going to be Chantelle, Kim and I, but Chantelle didn't make it. But it was okay, because Kim and I had a really nice brunch and conversation, and in the process discovered that we have a whole bunch of things in common, including being from the States (and so going through the immigration process), our use of livejournal, our love of knitting and presence on ravelry, and our love of books. :) We ended up staying at brunch for about 2 hours, just chatting, and it was really nice. So making a new friend is what made my day today.
Tonight, I am making dinner, because Brad has been doing the majority of the cooking lately, and I've been craving salads, so I thought I'd make a nice spinach salad. Originally I was going to do something like Kristian's strawberry and spinach salad, but then I found some recipes for spinach salads with bacon and hard boiled egg that sounded delicious, so that is what I am making. Hopefully it turns out well!
Also, here are some pictures of things that have amused me when I've driven by them.
I'm not entirely sure why that's the phrase you'd choose to put on the back of your truck, but okay.
No really. "Jesus is the Answer Beauty Products and Hair Salon." Brad said maybe they cut your hair to look like Jesus. I really just want to know what he has to do with hair styling! :p
And mainly, I took this to follow in the tradition of the "I'm 12" category. :)
Okay, time to go switch the laundry over, then start prepping food to go in the salad. Hope you all are enjoying your weekends!
Edit: Forgot to mention one other funny thing I saw today (but did not get a picture of). I went through the McDonald's drive-through this morning to get Brad some breakfast. As I was waiting for the car ahead of me to pull through, I noticed a poster on the wall with pictures of a burger, a chicken wrap, and a fish sandwich. Under the burger, it says 100% pure Canadian beef. Under the chicken wrap, it says 100% seasoned chicken breast. And under the fish sandwich? Tangy tartar sauce!! Cracked me the hell up. They're not even going to try to pretend that's real fish, lol.
