ready to go, just say so

Called out of work this morning because I feel like I've been fighting off being sick for at least the past week, and I'd rather just rest and start feeling better than keep going and end up feeling like death. I slept from about 11 last night till 10 this morning; it was fantastic. Still don't feel like doing much more than sitting around on the couch all day, though. I would like some orange juice and I should deposit some babysitting money in the bank, so I'll probably have to get up and go out at some point, but right now, I'm sitting in my pajamas and life is good. Whether or not I decide to get some laundry done today is still entirely up in the air.

I decided to make the kids I babysit scarves for Christmas/Hanukkah, so that's motivation for me to start knitting again. I told the mom about the sweater I've been wanting to make myself for probably 3 years now, the one that I started last year but had to pull out and start over, the same one that I started again this year and just haven't touched in months. She said I should give myself a goal date to have it done by, and she's probably right, as it seems unlikely I'm ever going to get around to finishing it otherwise, even though I know I'll be really excited about it if I do. So I'm going to attempt to have it done by Christmas, as a present to myself. That's two months, and really, if I'm actually working on it during that time, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to get it done. Mmm knitting. I do enjoy it, so I don't really know why I go through periods where I just don't do anything with it. Plus, if I finish the sweater, I can work on the purse pattern that Lori got me (along with all the necessary yarn) for my birthday. So yes, let's go knitting!

Sarah came up to visit last weekend, which was really awesome. It was super good to see her and hang out and just catch up with each other. We went to brunch at this cute and very tasty little place called toast, where we both had delicious meals. Then we went to Ikea, where I finally got some of the stuff I needed to organize my closet and be able to put the last of my stuff away. The only thing I still need for the apartment is a folding step stool/step ladder, because our ceilings are really high and it's difficult for me to reach anything in the upper cabinets/on the top shelves. I think Kira will be coming up to see me this weekend, hopefully, which will be cool, because then we can go to Kira-Kira, the Japanese restaurant by my house. Next weekend, I'm going to Kristian's Halloween party on Friday night, getting my car serviced (FINALLY; it's only needed it since like August), and probably going to Sarah's Halloween party on Saturday. And then, I think it's only two more weeks after that when I take the Praxis! Yeesh. I should maybe start studying for that. Oh, plus there's now a paper I have to write for my independent study that I said I'd try to have done in 2-3 weeks. Lame. I'm definitely not in paper-writing mode anymore.

Okay, I guess maybe I should go get a shower if I'm going to go out and get orange juice and stuff today. Plus, I am still babysitting tonight, and I should probably not show up there in my pajamas. Though sweatpants? Totally okay with that. I actually should probably get more of those, and comfy sweatshirts, too. Enjoy your day, kids.
