100 Nostalgic Things From The 90's Challenge - #4: Bill Nye the Science Guy

I could have been a scientist. I liked biology enough in high school and I had good grades in it. One of my childhood dreams was possibly going into marine biology. If I had, it would have been because of this guy:

I loved this show as a kid. It ran from 1993 to 1998, and I think most 90's kids in America saw it. (Sometimes at home, or science teachers would show it at school.) It taught me a load of stuff about science and the world around me. I believe it gave me a firm base of knowledge that I've only continued to build upon. Bill Nye had a way of explaining things so that everyone understood them. This show made science fun for everybody and it's a beloved part of my childhood.

I've realized since re-watching a bunch of episodes that this is also where I started liking editing techniques like cut-away gags and funny sound fx, as well as snarky narrators.

This is me. Yes, I will blog about The Magic School Bus too at some point. XD

The good news is, Bill Nye is still around, still talking about science, still being awesome. He did an online Q+A about the Mars robot last month.

Under the cut are some classic Bill Nye clips:
