Ornament, Room Pics, Sofie's Meds, Happy Marriage

Last week while at Hobby Lobby I bought my first ornament of the season. I know I bought a few after last Christmas but this is the first after a long break. It is so pretty and happy. Love it! Let the obsession continue...

The view from our room at the retreat, the room, and the bath area:

Sofie has hip dysplasia. We've known for almost a year now. She still has no clinical symptoms. I found out about her hips because there was an audible popping/thumping sound coming from her intermittently. So I brought her to the vet's to get her hips xrayed then we visited a specialty vet in Austin. She is fine and it doesn't effect her life with the exception of these:

No, those aren't lumps of poop you see, they are Sofie's glucosamine supplement for her joints. We are going to switch her to a different one but they will look like this too. These ones have an anti-inflammatory in addition to the glucosamine she needs. The anti-inflammatory isn't necessary right now since she doesn't have any pain symptoms.
Sofie isn't a big fan of these nasty little things which leads to an adventure trying to get her to eat one every day. There are several tricks to this:
1 (the one I use most often) after the girls do their morning business they get a cookie. I hand them both one and while Sofie is breaking hers up on the floor I break the supplement up and add it to to cookie crumbs in front of her. She eats it while finishing her treat.
2 sometimes Sofie finishes her "yard work" while Audrey is still inspecting every individual blade of grass to find the perfect spot. So I'll pop Sofie into the house with the broken up lump in front of her. It is usually gone by the time Audrey is finished.
3 I break it into pieces and hold it for her in my hand. This method is often accompanied by me pretending to eat pieces and saying "yummy" and offering her some.
Candace's method from when the girls were with her this weekend...
4 break off junks and squish them onto the back of dog cookies to hide them.
The good thing about the smelly nasty things is that since she's been on them her hips no longer make the sound.

Chris slept in this morning until around lunch time. While he was sleeping I watched a bit of Buffy and called my mom. We talked for an hour and it was nice. We laughed a lot and I told her all about the marriage retreat. The marriage retreat is already making a difference. Today Chris and I started to get into an argument in the car. One of my problems is my temper and how emotional/sensitive I am. I could feel myself getting angry so I told Chris I needed a time-out. We stopped talking, made it home, put the groceries away, then sat down and talked about the problem calmly. It was great. I was able to chill out and get my thoughts and feelings in order to talk and not let it escalate. What a difference it made.
