The 2nd Anniversary of my 29th Birthday

May 08, 2008 20:35

Yesterday was a nice day. I woke up at 8am to a call from my brother. Once up the flowers Chris sent me arrived. They are really pretty and all pink, red, and purple. Chris called and sang Happy Birthday to me over the phone. I made a thank you card for my m-i-l (finally) and then I heard from my mom (who also sang to me) and then m-i-l. In the afternoon I took a nap, Chris called again, and I treated myself to a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Nice.
I pulled myself together for the evening and even curled my hair. I wore my new white capris (and they survived!). Leonie picked me up just before 7pm and we went to meet the other gals at Olive Garden.

It was really nice that everyone was able to make it! We had a great dinner with lots of fun chatter.

Our waiter was good, he was young and funny and took good care of us. He blundered at the end, asking us if we wanted dessert which had been pre-arranged. I'm not exactly sure who, I think it was Misti, had requested their birthday cake and it arrived with a candle and waiters singing.
Make a wish!

I was nice and shared my cake with everyone. After the cake I had some gifts to open. I started with the gift from my parents. It has been at the house for a couple of weeks but I was waiting for my actual birthday to open it and also I don't like opening gifts alone so I brought it along. My parents sent me a really pretty little black and white sweater (it's a summer-weight, half sleeve one) and shopping money :oD. I opened my card from Anne and Sabs. They brought me balloons and bought my dinner for me. Then I opened Leonie's gift which was full of perfume samples, body spray and a Brighton Doggy-themed key chain sitting in Skittles.

I opened Misti's gift last. I was excited by the Brighton bag. She gave me a really pretty heart necklace.

The picture does not do it justice, you can't even see the cute details. It is really nice. I wore it out today actually.
After dinner Leonie drove me home where I relaxed a bit before heading to bed. It was a really nice day. It is hard being here with no family and no Hubby but my friends have really made my birthday so special. I am lucky to have these gals around.
Today I slept in. After a call from Leonie we decided to head to Georgetown to go shopping. I didn't find any clothes but I did get a couple really nice pairs of shoes from DSW.

The black shoes are actually quite similar to the eyelet top I bought for homecoming. I'm going to wear the top and shoes with a pair of my new jeans. I am set! I now have extra money for shopping so I'm not quite done yet. After shopping we got a quick dinner at Steak n Shake. They were out of ice cream (crazy, I know!) so we had to go to Coldstone to get a sweet dessert. Then it was home and I've been puttering around here since.
I am working on laundry and I have some tidying up to do in the computer room mainly. Tomorrow I have an FRG meeting that my leader was pretty insistent that we go to. Hopefully we'll get information about homecoming. Hopefully it won't be bad news like they are being delayed etc. But with the army you never know! Then Saturday I'm off to my in-laws for the weekend. Should be nice. We're going to Cheesecake Factory for Mother's Day dinner on Saturday. Yum!
