OK here was my week...
Monday -
Read the book for my book club meeting and managed to finish it in one afternoon. Yea!
Tuesday -
I had an appointment for my first pair of contacts. I didn't have any trouble getting the buggers in but taking them out really challenged me. Then the left one wasn't staying put so the optometrist changed the lenses. Now the right one won't stay put. I have my follow-up tomorrow.
I really enjoyed my book club meeting that evening. We were really able to get to know more about each other since the questions for our latest book were really focused on personal experiences and such. So we discussed The Next Thing On My List and chose The Handmaid's Tale for next month.
Wednesday -
Candace, Lisa, and I wanted to have dinner together one last time before Lisa moved. Since my birthday is quickly approaching we decided to incorporate a little celebration into it as well.
at our table
Lisa gave me an art-themed gift - handmade glass pendants and a puzzle picture frame with a picture of me and Chris. Candace gave me a tea-themed gift including coconut tea, napkins (that read "I was never meant to work"), and Korean infuser tea cups.
We went to Bess Bistro which I really enjoy but this time it wasn't as good. The mac and cheese was all wrong and last time I went it was phenomenal. Add to that my one contact kept doing strange things to my vision. After dinner we headed to The Daily Grill and had a really yummy dessert and sat and chatted on the patio there. So even though Bess didn't go over well the evening ended on a great note.
Thursday -
I took myself out to Temple to continue hunting for supplies for Lisa's good-bye gift. The different ideas I had been considering either hadn't worked out, I had changed my mind, or I was having to put in a lot of leg work to figure out. I spent a couple hours wandering around Michael's gathering supplies.
That evening I took the girls for a walk with the intention of meeting Leonie. We were about a mile and a half from the house when we met up and then Sofie hurt her leg. I think we aggravated her injury from the week or so before. I have a suspicion that her ligaments (tendons?) that hold her knee cap in place got stretched causing her knee to be loose. So we ended up having to take turns carrying her back all the way to the house. Poor Puff. After we settled my girls in and Sofie was doing better I walked down with Leonie back to the half way point.
Friday -
I met Candace and Lisa at Lisa's place so we could make the drive to downtown Austin together. We met Misti and a couple other friends at Melting Pot for Misti's birthday. We had our favourite waitress and had a blast!

Misti opening her gift from us - we gave her a purse.
I think she liked it!
Saturday -
Again I was on the road to Austin. I met Candace at her place and then we headed to Lisa's at noonish. We stopped and picked Lisa and her husband's suits up at their tailor's. They did a fabulous job! Then it was off to lunch at EZs where we sat on the patio and Chris (Lisa's, not mine) got dive-bombed by a bird. It was insane. Candace and I walked up to Starbucks for a cold drink while Lisa and Chris met with someone who was interested in buying their second car. We met up again, dropped Chris off, and then headed out to do some grocery shopping for Chris' "Peace Out Army Life" barbecue.
Once back at Candace's we prepped and chatted. Guests arrived and we had a really yummy meal out back and then some super yummy cake and ice cream. Once full of food and drinks we made our way into the house where we all played some games including Catch Phrase and Trivial Pursuit. It was such a fun night and I didn't get home until almost 2am. Yikes!
Sunday -
My body just refused to sleep even though I felt like a zombie all morning. I had some work to do on LIsa's good-bye gift so that was probably what was keeping me up. After finally shaking off the last of my sleepiness I got down to work.
The supplies
I made a shadow bow picture for Lisa with a friendship theme...
I used the recent picture from my birthday for the main picture and then added one of Lisa and I at Christmas and another of Max and Audrey who were puppies together and best puppy pals.
After that was finished I had to construct a gift bag that would keep the tissue paper wrapped securely around the shadow box for Lisa's travels. Then I wrapped their other gift and had a quick Hubby date before getting ready to leave for Candace's place.
I drove with Candace and Steve to Trudy's where we met Misti, Lisa, Chris, Sabrina, and Chuck for dinner. We had a really great meal and Lisa opened her gifts.
She loved the shadow box and I hope she can get something useful for their new place with the IKEA gift card that Chris and I gave them. Soon it was time to leave the restaurant and we took a few pictures by the entrance of Lisa's fave place to eat in Austin.
Then it was off to Candace's place where Lisa and Chris met us. We had dessert, played some Nertz (crazy group solitaire card game) and then it was time to say our final goodbyes. Lisa, Candace, and I hugged and reassured each other and said our good byes in the driveway. Lisa started crying and then I started crying. Eventually Lisa and Chris drove off and then Candace and I parted ways. I cried some more on the way home, then again at home when I read the letter Lisa had written me. Then I cried again today when I was telling Hubby about last night. I am going to really miss Lisa. These past few months she's been the person I've probably spent the most time with and been closest to. At least she's only going to Chicago, we'll be able to visit them on vacation this June.
This morning I woke up to a call from Chris. He told me that he was very close to being blown up by a rocket and then filled me in later on our date. Just a few more weeks. That's it.
