I am now the proud owner of a very recently ex-heater.
I keep all my guitar plectrums in a little open tin on my desk. It's prone to getting knocked onto the floor occasionally, but I don't have anywhere else to keep them. Beside the desk is my electric heater. I just managed to knock the tin flying off the desk, and one of the plecks slipped through the heater grille and landed on the element. I bent over to pick up the plecks and got a faceful of gas from the now burning plectrum. Burning plastic gas + eyes == PAIN.
So now I have a heater with a thick plastic plectrum stuck tight to the element. I managed to open up the heater (damn whoever decided to use security Torx screws to fasten the thing rather than sensible Phillips screws - lucky I had a pair of pliers handy) but the pleck's melted right onto the element. I think I'll try to free it by melting it off again - outside, of course - but I may have to get a new heater... *growl*
