[so if you were to go into the mess hall today you would notice some obnoxious teenager has claimed a table and is working on it with his laptop and quite a few empty mugs. The more observant would notice the following: a) the apple on his macbook is missing the standard bite in it; b) instead of the usual standard 100 or so keys on his keyboard there are about 500-600; and c) if you look over his shoulder at the screen it is not in English ... or any language your character would recognise.
