[OH RIGHT details. This is the gift, only the jewel is a ruby and the etchings different -- more feminine.]

[Hesitates a moment, then starts to unwrap hers -- v. v. carefully -- and when she sees the blade, she just... stops a moment and stares at it, gently, almost reverently running her fingers over the etchings, and I'm just going to assume it's not silver.]

Not for any extended period of time; I did witness some of the festivities, but didn't partake.

Not especially; I chose to spend the evening in the quiet company of a friend rather than engaging in some of the festivities.
