MIND DIVE EVENT PLANNING

OKAY there has been some discussion about what makes a heart game in sabraather and what isn't, but this post is essentially the CFUD take on it, which has been done before-- basically, we're planning a subconscious mind dive where you GET IN TOO DEEP OH GOD. Info under the cut!

I am voting for this as a Persona 4 related event, which is essentially the same thing, and maybe the character can be in their subconscious accepting/coming to terms with something about themselves. I'm not sure about heart games in the Sabra/Aather sense, though, as I am kind of with AJ on them not really working with CFUD as a whole (as memory games come with a level of shaping of identity minus memories and so forth, and how that can play after heart games and getting more memories afterward, all things that I don't think fit in CFUD).

I do think a subconscious/dungeon thing is cool, but again: P4 style, less ... permanent?

I'm totally going to envision everybody's hearts with Meguro strip club music in the background now.

And it's going to be awesome.

YES.

The reason why I like it more persona 4 style if we're going to change things is that it's the character willingly accepting that change themselves. Also, it doesn't mean they have to have a great revelation, but they might be able to move forward a little.

I do agree that's a good way of looking at it. Acceptance, but not necessarily a big change so much as a realization that something is a problem for them. Allows development, but makes it easy to opt in or out and doesn't make it jarringly big.

Yeah, I like this. That way people that do want to have big revelations/development/whatever can do so, and those that want to have wacky fun event times but not really...develop in a serious fashion can be like "ALL RIGHT I ADMIT IT...I DO LIKE PINEAPPLE"

Okay, I am going to say this flat-out: This is not meant to be a Persona event. I've outlined why I think these events are different, and tbqh I'm starting to feel like by saying mind-diving should ONLY be a persona event, it is not giving much freedom or options to anyone. In fact, it would even eliminate the possibility of playing some characters, when people just want to derp in character mindscapes.

OKAY, I made a few general comments about why I am against this at work, but now I'm home I'm going to go more in depth and actually REPLYING to this comment in particular. I also want to clarify I am not against a P4 event in itself-- it's just that I think a P4 event and this event, while similar, also have distinct differences and individual parts I would want to play with! I would also like to apologize if you feel like any of your concepts of a P4 event are being trampled over by this, that is definitely not my intention.

Okay, I really do not think a P4 event and this is the same thing precisely because a P4 event would a) be more focused on the insecurities and identity issues of a character, b) most likely would involve mysteries as to WHY ARE PEOPLE BEING SUCKED INTO TVS IF THEY DON'T GET OUT THEY WILL DIE/...BE TURNED INTO SOMETHING EMBARRASSING BY CAMP!, and c) is very much about accepting a part of you inner self, which I feel is not what this subconscious spelunking is. If anything, I feel like this kind of event could ( ... )

I DEFINITELY got into a ramble and TL;DR there, which I apologize for, but my final complaint is IN GENERAL I would prefer this not to be a canon specific event, so that if people like it they can easily go-- hey, let's spelunk into someone's mind a few months! Rather than worry about stepping on toes or going overboard or not following canonical rules as with a canon specific mind spelunk.

I never meant a direct lift from P4 either. :( But I already shared my thoughts on Plurk! MY FAULT FOR NOT GOING ON AT LENGTH AND ADJUSTING MY THOUGHTS SINCE LAST NIGHT, I guess.

As for a Persona Event, uh, I sort of just want to play in a soul dungeon without having a character accepting something or make something better. Or making anything super worse. Or run a boss battle. So something similar but not quite is the thought in this case? Aka if people want a Persona Event then do a Persona Event, but what is being suggested is something that has different rules and without a "goal". Just going out and exploring parts of a character ~insiiiide them~ seems somewhat different to me than what sounds like an Acceptance Dungeon (I've never played Persona so I don't know if that is accurate). But it we take out the "possibly coming to terms with myself, also playercesting meeting my issues" part and I'd be good for it.

See, for me having it like a persona event would be a problem for me, not just for the reasons mentioned, but because it's only feel like it was half a persona 4 setup ( ... )
