Australasian Meetup 2011

Mar 30, 2011 10:46

Hey team! It’s that time of year again where we need to start thinking about what we are going to do for our annual meetup. Actually, it’s probably a little past that time of year, but better late than never. Our fearless leader telcontar has passed the organisational baton on this year... let’s see if I can organise anything more complicated than sandwiches! I am ably assisted by Ronan and, of course, telcontar herself because she just knows what’s going on.

This is just an interest gauging post to see who might be interested in coming along this year, and what people might like to do. There is nothing set in place! We usually do this thing around September, but that’s not a requirement. Originally the draw card was Manifest in Melbourne, which this year is from 26-28 August; I’m sure there are other exciting things going on at various other times of year which people should mention in the comments! After a week or so I will put up another post with polls and stuff and start up a gdoc.

Basically if you are in the Australia/Asia/ANYWHERE region and are interested in coming this year, please comment here with the following info:-

1) WHEN YOU ARE AVAILABLE -- preferably a weekend period, usually people arrive around Friday/Saturday and we kick back until Sunday/Monday depending on people’s schedules. Again, it doesn’t have to be a September thing; that’s just the sort-of tradition.

2) WHERE YOU WANT TO GO -- there was strong interest in returning to the Gold Coast, and at present the place we stayed at a couple of years ago is still available some weekends in September. HOWEVER. This is only something we can really manage if we have strong interest, as it is quite pricey. So please keep that in mind. There are a few decent places available in Phillip Island, Sydney and Melbourne, and there are lots of things to do in all of those places as well. You could also all come to Echuca and we can play night time paintball.

Like I said, once we have this info I will throw up some polls and set up a gdoc. Please link this post to people who you think might be interested but who are sadly no longer in our delightfully cracktacular game and no longer follow CFO regularly. Like me, every second year.
