If you're on IRC a lot, you might notice that one of Ginshu's favorite away nicks is "voring Bonten's mom." What the hell, you may ask. Who is Bonten's mom and why on earth would Ginshu be voring them?
WELL LET ME TELL YOU, CFUD. SO THAT YOU WILL APP BYAKUROKU FOR COUNSELORS.
This is Byakuroku. He's a snake ayakashi. (You're probably thinking of that one scene with Hisoka's dad from Yami no Matsuei right now. Well, stop that.) If that sounds familiar, it's because he's the one who "cursed" Ginshu. The whys and wherefores of how and why this came about are a little spoilery, but suffice to say that it involves voring. Mmm, vore.
More importantly to this pimping post, though, Byakuroku was Bonten's predecessor as the leader of the ayakashi. He's smart, perceptive, and keeps a close hold on his ayakashi subjects, only feeding them information on a need to know basis (translation of this page by sanada). Having been around for a few centuries, he's pretty experienced and good at what he does. And despite what the Onmyou Bureau would have you think, he's not at all interested in waving war against the humans, even if some of the other ayakashi are. Instead, Byakuroku's interests lean towards more philosophical concepts.
... he's also Bonten and Tsuyukusa's adoptive parent. Not that he's exactly, uh, very... experienced at that kind of thing yet. In fact, sometimes he fails. Hard. No wonder Bonten and Tsuyu turned out so well, huh?
But he tries really hard (translation of this page by sanada) to take care of his boys, and sometimes even succeeds. He just knows he'd like them to see each other as brothers.
As you've probably gathered from those pictures, despite being calculatingly intelligent, he's also totally an airhead. It's adorable. And thus he should be apped.
But wait, you say! Byakuroku doesn't show up until Volume 5! Scanlations stop at the end of Volume 4!
