So! Violet and Robin are big dorks and as a consequence of this, they are planning a Science Fair. If your character is a big dork/inventor/makes cool techno stuff/mechanic/scientist/is smrt and would be interested, sign them up! They don't have to be living in the labs, they don't have to have met Violet or Robin or have heard of the Science Fair
