Can anyone believe we WON yesterday?
It's crazy, particularly also because everyone at that game yesterday probably came in thinking that the Eagles were definitely going to lose to the Tams. Personally, I was just hoping we wouldn't lose miserably and that it would make for a good fight between the two teams. It WAS a good epic fight, but I never ever expected we would win. And I celebrate the hoarse voice I got out of it too. Just cause it makes me think I did my part. Hehehehe.

Anyway, AFTER the brilliant game yesterday, I hung out with friends yesterday at Gateway, where a friend of mine told me that I was experiencing the first sign of growing old, which was hating ALL the new musical releases.

At the time we were discussing Cueshe and Hale, who have apparently gone on to "pave" the way by creating "melodrama rock", which I freely admit (because this is MY livejournal after all...) gives me rashes because it's just not music I like. And the very name "Cueshe" (and the fact that it's pronounced the way it is), really rubs me the wrong way. It seems so... cutesy, and "feeling" deep. I don't know, it just bugs me. Then I went on to comment that I dislike the new Green Day stuff, and 24fps agreed with me, saying that punk rock just gets old and tired as you get old and tired. You can't be a whiny punk-ass bitch forever, and punks who are old are just sad and washed up. PLUS, what's with the cheesy "I can't believe you could do this to me!" intro for their new video? It's like a REALLY REALLY REALLY bad promo for a summer-fill in show in the US that the cable channels eventually pick up here in the Philippines.

Anyway, I guess it was hanging at the back of my head, because I was at Town Center this afternoon having my Mom's Anniversary gift framed when I wandered around in Tower Records. I was pretty certain that I didn't hate ALL the new musical releases, just most. The stuff that's getting a lot of play just gets too much in my opinion, because they're not that good. Anyway, I was reassured upon entering that I am still quite knowledgable with new music, just not necessarily liking the new stuff.

While I was there, I ended up dawdling at the listening stations to both Jason Mraz's "Mr. A-Z" and Mojofly Now. I loved both, but could only buy one. Pfffffft.

So, I really like Mojofly, even when Kitchie Nadal was frontwoman, and they released this random video (a year, maybe two years ago?) that had with Andrew Ty in a red t-shirt (but it was a great song). I'm particularly fond of their sound now, they're even better than they were before (IMHO). And it also doesn't hurt that Ali Alejandro's in the band (so CUTE, especially in comparison to some of the former members of Mojofly). Last night, I caught the premiere of their video with Shrek-like animation, and it was great. And I really like their songs. But, I would only permit myself to buy one cd. So my next purchase is definitely going to be Mojofly Now. I REALLY want it. But my urge today just happened to lead me to Jason Mraz.

I've been wanting both CDs for awhile now (I've been wanting a LOT of CDs, but them's the breaks), so I had a lot of time so I started listening to the releases and ended up buying Jason Mraz's "Mr. A-Z". It's a really great CD, a little mellower than "Waiting for My Rocket to Come", but I actually like that. It shows growth, unlike (I'm sorry to say) John Mayer. The art of the CD jacket (which is really, really nice), and the overall theme of the CD is learning, so Jason Mraz comes out of it smarter, more poignant and more wistful than "Rocket". He's the kind of artist (for me anyway), who has SOUL Brothaaaah. There's genuine GUT when he sings and in what he writes or plays, and I LOVE that so, on my part, it's highly recommended.
