The On Demand came back, and so I watched the second half of Brokeback. omg. I'm exhausted now. It reaches into me and yanks out these wrenching sobs that I'm not even expecting. It's so fucking good. Also, when it came out, I was in the midst of the breakup, and so I totally projected onto it, which made it so much more personally painful... and now I'm able to see it way more objectively as being an incredible tragic movie in a much broader sense, which is indescribably better.
I also saw The Queen this afternoon with some new UU church friends. That Helen Mirren, man. (Side note entirely unrelated to her performance in this movie, I remember definitely thinking she was hot in her Prime Suspect days, before I really realized that I thought women were hot.)
AND, before that, I met this woman from craigslist about maybe looking for a place together. Here's how that went down: I walk into the cafe where we're meeting. I see work!C, from my old evil job. yay! I haven't seen him in a while, we chat. I tell him I'm looking to move. "oh, hey," says he, indicating a guy across the room; "that's Matt, my brother's former roommate; he's got a great place and are going to be looking for another roommate soon!" yay! Matt and I exchange info (they're looking for someone for April). C's fiance A comes in. yay! We chat. She and C sit; I turn to go order. Potential New Roommate!E walks in. We introduce ourselves. She sees A over my shoulder. She freaks out. A freaks out. Everyone's freakin' out! Turns out they studied abroad together and used to be really close and now haven't seen each other in a year (E has been living in the Bay Area). yay!! C has met E too, A loves E; and suddenly E and I have this whole context to put each other in and I feel like I know so much more about who she is as a person and of course I'd want to live with one of A's friends!
And then we had a really nice talk and she seems to be just great. She's going to be looking at a couple of other places in the next few days, but if nothing completely clicks for her, I think we're going to look together. YAY!!
I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow; I'd like to stay up late continuing to work my way through S1 The West Wing.
