Gwen, for her part, couldn't explain her actions though. She did say she didn't know what she was doing and you can also see the confusion in her at certain points in the episode.

She doesn't visit Lancelot until after he gives her the bracelet. Indeed when Lancelot questions her and asks if she has given her future husband her wishes there is utter confusion as she goes from 'yes' to 'I will'.

Of course she feels guilty and you can see why she fear it was herself and not manipulation. Her feelings for Lancelot were deep and she did love him in the past.

The saddest part of all is that her closest friend didn't even stop and think to ask if she was under a spell. Merlin and Gaius are usually pretty on the ball with this sort of thing.

When her vindication comes, it will be a hell of a moment because there will be rather a few shamed faces.

Oh, I'm not disputing that she couldn't explain why she did the things she did, but she could not didn't say it wasn't her, and she prefaced her explanation to Arthur with "once, there was Lancelot, but I hadn't thought of him in that way in many years". The bracelet amplified feelings that Gwen had buried, but were still there, Morgana said as much. Again, I'm not blaming Gwen in any way, we know it was the sorcery that made her act on feelings that she'd long moved past, but as it stood in this episode, raw emotions flowing, Gwen believed that she'd somehow reverted back to those old feelings ( ... )

Merlin has given everyone a chance except gwen... He even gave Morgana chances. Gauis knew that someone tried to kill gwen... The fact remaisn that the whole time if went againist gwen's nature. she was never the femme fatale.. she dealt with everything... one day a new gwen shows up, and she's a whore?

Awesome points, you articulated my thoughts better than I could, especially with Elyan and Merlin. I really saw it when rewatching and looking at Elyan's expression; he wasn't disgusted or sneering, he was simply disappointed and from what I interpreted, saddened.

And Merlin was in a precarious position being the best friend of Arthur and a close friend of Gwen's. What does one do when you believe that one friend has hurt another? Who's side do you take? I think Merlin likely wanted to say something to Gwen, but what could he say that wouldn't have been too personal? What could he ask without prying into personal feelings that weren't his to examine? It was a hard, painful, awkward place, and really, I think he did all he could by simply being there to see her off, his face expressing what words couldn't at that moment.

I think you are right. The enchantment being revealed is really only the half of what needs to come out to help Arthur and Gwen move on. It will definitely go a long way to explain why Gwen did what she did for Arthur and it will probably be vital in helping Gwen come to terms with what she did, if she knew she couldn't control herself because of an enchantment. At the moment she must think it is simply because she's a bad person, and feels like she doesn't know her own mind any more ( ... )

I totally agree with you and with what Arthur did.
There are not any doubts, they love each other, nothing could come between them, but it is true that he would find difficult to trust her without knowing she has been enchanted. I personally would not trust her. Besides, Gwen was not so convincing in explaining why she was so drawn to Lancelot and to Arthur it seemed to confirm her willingness to do that.

What about Gwen trusting Arthur? What happens the next time that Morgana plays a trick... gwen has a right to think after the truth comes out. You didn't have faith in me. How does she know that he can stand by her?

I guess I'm going to be the voice of dissent here. At one time or another on this show, we've heard Merlin, Gaius and Arthur talk about what a good heart Gwen has and how loyal she is. If you believe this about someone, (and in the case of Merlin and Gaius, know that Morgana's hand was involved in bringing back Lancelot and that she would do anything to stop Gwen from becoming Queen), you don't just assume that she would willingly betray Arthur on the eve of their wedding, and in his throne room no less, without atleast asking Gwen what happened. I think if Merlin had taken the time to speak to Gwen instead of just accepting what Gaius said about Gwen having to pay the price, he would have figuered it out. All he had to do was ask Gwen when she started to feel overwhelmed with her feelings for Lancelot and she would have been able to pinpoint that it was after Lancelot gave her a bracelet from whatever the name of the people that he claimed to have rescued him. Even uncle Aggy said that Gwen wasn't showing any signs of being ( ... )

When you are truly in love... there isn't anything left. Morgana rationalized that Gwen must still love Lancelot. Morgana knew that the return of Lancelot wasn't enough... she made the bracelet. If the feelings were there, it would have shown. So, does this mean Gwen has feelings for Merlin too? Gwen and Lancelot lived in Camelot for a year, and nothing... Gwen and Lancelot were able to speak in episode 1, and she asked him to return Arthur to her. If you're hung up on a man, you don't ask him for anything.

Another bad writing... not sticking with the mythology ... how come Gwen could remove her enchantment...? How come Arthur or Merlin didn't notice the bracelet? Uther couldn't. Arthur couldn't... Merlin couldn't... Gauis couldn't... But, gwen could?

Exactly, you would think that someone would have noticed her wearing the bracelet, especially since Gwen never wears jewelry.

Also I don't think that this enchantment was a love enchantment at all. If it was we would have seen Gwen professing her love to Lancelot or atleast questioning why she was marrying Arthur. But even Gwen told Arthur that she didn't have any doubts about marrying him. I think what the enchantment did was make Gwen lust after Lancelot and it removed her inhibitions so that she couldn't control herself. To me it's like the magical equivalent of a date rape drug. And I think that's why it didn't conform to the rules of other love enchantments that we have seen in the past.
