“Arthur, you can’t drink from that goblet-it’s cursed,” Merlin said.
“But I’m thirsty. Surely a single sip won’t hurt.” Arthur replied, with longing.
“We came here to destroy that thing, remember? Besides, we have no idea what will happen if either of us drink from it.”
“Come on, Merlin.”
“Shut up, I’m trying to work out how to destroy it without touching it.”
As Merlin thought for a bit, he glanced away momentarily. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught Arthur reaching for the goblet. “Arthur, no!” He slapped the prince’s hand away just in time. “Oh, the hell with it.” He stretched out his hand and uttered a single word.
The goblet exploded right before their eyes. Arthur blinked and said, “What just happened?”
“It looks like it decided to explode.”
“How did I miss that?”
“You’d been ensorcelled by it. I’d guess that’s how you missed it.”
Arthur grinned. “Wow, lucky miss, huh? Hey, how come you were not ensorcelled by it?”
“I wasn’t thirsty.”
