Merlin woke up the next morning with Kilgharrah sitting on his chest. “Merlin, it is time to wake up,” he said. “It is time to go find Sir Gwaine.”
Merlin groaned and said, “Kilgharrah, it’s too early in the day to find him. Didn’t you hear the discussion last night?”
“You can surveil the location to see when he gets there.”
“Don’t hound me. Besides, there’s a little thing called work I have to go to. Do you think I can just afford to live without money?”
“Fair enough.”
“That’s what I thought.” Kilgharrah moved as Merlin got out of bed.
Merlin wondered how his day would go. He made decent money as a personal assistant to a vice president of Avalon Corporation, but it wasn’t satisfying work. In a lot of ways, it was like what he’d done for Arthur, only with less things thrown at him.
After cleaning up and eating breakfast, Merlin fed Kilgharrah and headed off to work. He thought how drastically his life had changed in just a few days and wondered how the evening would go. He also missed Arthur and wondered where he could be. Was he still in Avalon, or was he out somewhere in the world, not knowing who he was?
