Merlin stood by the fireplace and smiled as he looked at the photos they had collected there when Arthur stepped up behind him and wrapped his arms around his waist.
“What are you doing?”
Leaning back into Arthur, Merlin gestured towards the photos. “So many milestones.”
Arthur nodded. “This was when we first met at Percy’s party.”
“The one from our first date.”
“Moving in together.”
“Our trip to Australia that we had saved our pennies for for so long.” Merlin nodded.
Arthur swallowed. “The day you accepted my ring.”
“I still don’t understand engagement photo shoots, but I’m glad that someone was around to capture that moment.”
They stood in silence for a while, looking at the photographic evidence of how far they had come before Arthur pressed a little kiss on Merlin’s neck.
“Come on, let’s go. The next milestone is waiting for us.”
Merlin turned and for the first time, he saw Arthur in his suit. He couldn’t help reaching over to adjust the bowtie a bit before he ran a hand down the lapel of his own suit. The nervousness of the past weeks passed as he grabbed Arthur’s hand and nodded. “Let’s go, they are waiting for us.”
As natural as all the other milestones had come, they would add another one to their collection today.
