tambear13 for the quick look at it. Sorry that I couldn’t come up with anything better than the lame title. Was at a convention this weekend and my brain is still fried. And since I met the bloke who plays Will (and he's an absolute cutiepie!), of course I had to give his character a spot in this week’s drabble.
MEEP! I just noticed that I wasn't even signed up. Oops!
tambear13 sent me the prompt on Friday while I was wearing strange costumes and having fun at a hotel (and that came out wrong now, didn't it?) and I pondered what to write in every line I stood in and didn't have anyone to talk to. Hope it's okay that I posted anyway... *bats eyes*
The first time Arthur had ordered Merlin to his bed, his breath caught when he saw it. A magical tattoo. A very small one just above Merlin’s left nipple. He’d heard of them, the tattoo revealing who the person’s heart belonged to. And the tattoo said ‘Will’.
Arthur had no idea who Will was, but he sent Merlin away the moment he understood what it meant. It wasn’t enough to just order Merlin to do this with him. He wanted to be the one whose name the tattoo showed.
When he learned about Will, he had to follow Merlin and the girls to Ealdor. He needed to be there, to make Merlin see. Instead, he got to watch how Merlin lost his best friend and lover. A sorcerer, who had given him the tattoo in the first place, Arthur reckoned.
It took a while before he saw the ink again, it was fading and only a shadow on Merlin’s chest.
Months later, Merlin came to his bed regularly, on his own free will, not being ordered, seeking warmth and pleasure which Arthur was more than keen on giving him. When Arthur turned to blow out the candle, he looked over Merlin’s sleeping form and his eyes caught the tattoo which seemed to be all fresh and dark. His heart skipped a beat when he saw what it said now.
He brushed his lips over the six letters of his own name, blew out the candle and wrapped his arms around his love. He was determined to get his own tattoo. It didn’t have to be magical. He knew his heart would always just belong to the sleeping man in his arms.
