Hubs is worried that we're becoming shut-ins, but so far August is proving that's not the case. We went to the Rib Fest, we had a six hour visit with friends we haven't seen since last year, I went birdwatching yesterday with my friend (who I haven't seen pre-COVID) and a wedding reception. Today we went to the Japanese festival.
Regrettably, I didn't get any pictures, but the sheer busyness of the festival was proof that people wanted ouuuuut and to engage with others. The festival was held at an arena, so there was plenty of parking and indoor/outdoor activities. What there wasn't plenty of was...food! The indoor concession was out of food when we swung by and there were long line-ups for the outdoor tents. I think a couple of extra food vendors could easily have been added to spread out the lines. OTOH, I wouldn't blame vendors for being unsure of the turnout, which was amazing.
It was 31C (87.8F) and hotter on the asphalt of course. The festival was still very enjoyable with live music, dancing, drumming and other cultural demonstrations outside and cultural tables and more vendors inside the arena. We spent about two hours there, which was amazing due to the heat. We were quite done by the time we left and didn't have any energy left for the Korean festival down the road or the Caribbean festival downtown. In fact, I absorbed so much heat despite a hat and umbrella that I had to close the bathroom door at home and let the AC cool me down :P
