Some environmental stuff from a friend

    Thought some of you might be interested in stopping some of that junk mail from coming to your house which would in turn save some trees. I have listed some info below that you might be interested in. I have also listed some other environmental facts that you might find intriguing. I hope that you can use some of the information.

Red Meat: It can take seven or more pounds of grain to produce one pound of beef. By skipping red meat just once a week you will save 840 gallons of water it takes to produce a single serving.

How does skipping eating meat that has already been slaughtered save water? And if I don't eat red meat once a week for a year will that really cut down the amount of animals raised and killed for the market? If enough people did this at the same time for a long amount of time maybe it would cut down on the amount killed each day but probably not the amount raised to be killed in the future.
