Story: Lost in Translation
Author: Pitry
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 646
Author's Summary: The Doctor and Jack talk all the time: one of them opens his mouth and words come out. They never listen.
Characters/Pairings: Tenth Doctor, Jack Harkness
Warnings: Spoilers for "The Sound of Drums" / "Last of the Time Lords"
Recced because: Pitry knows a lot about linguistics, and she shows off her expertise here with her speculations about the effect of time travel on language. As fascinating as that is, however, the real power of this story comes from its quiet build and the incredible punch at the end.

And now that they’re both locked up here, in their cell, the alien who speaks millions of languages and himself, he speaks to the Doctor in his own tongue, the language that’s been dead to him for years and years, a language fit for a time travelling society.
