Crookshanks the princess

So I have been toying with the idea of adopting a stray cat. It has been a decision I have been mulling over for the last 3 years in fact.

Anyway, yesterday morning, my cousin messaged me and enquired if I wanted her cat. I told her that I would take a look at the picture and let he know after discussing with my sister. She is an orange-striped kitten who is a few weeks old. She was originally named Princess by her first owner but I told them the name ould be the first to go.

As a result I was a nervous wreck at work. I could barely concentrate! Eventually I left a few hours early (which I have to make up for next week....grrr) and I went to the pet store to get a few supplies. I did not expect this to take ore than a few minutes since all she needed was food and kitty litter right? Alas I bought out half the store, much to the amusement of the experienced cat owners there. They asked me about my new kitten and I told them everything I knew about her.

Nothing could have prepaed me for catmommyhood. When I met her she turned out to be adorable and a handful. She doesn't like to eat, so I had to stand there and watch her as she ate and bring her back to her bowl when she got distracted. She's not yet litter trained eventhough she has only relieved herself in the litter since she came here and that was ony because I was around to guess that she had to go and I lifted her into the litter. She's too short to get in herself.

Damn this is hard work. After putting her down to sleep, I thought she wouldn't wake up, but it turns out she sleeps quite lightly. Mercifully though she has this secuity blanket (which stinks to high heavens) but once I wrap her up in it she's out like a light. And the lady at the store told me that kittens eat dry food only, so I bought some and of course she hasn't eaten any. I gave her some wet food and she happily licked her bowl clean. Haha.

After all the excitement, both kitty and I fell asleep this moring. She's still asleep so I'm typing quietly.

Also I'm trying out Crookshanks for her name (the other options were Margarita and Saffron). She isn't responding to it yet, but I'm working on it.

This is Crookshanks?
