Good grief!

So I wanted to make John this super cool hat I found on Ravelry (it's a website for knitters. I am SUCH a nerd.)   It's reversible and you use two different colours and it looks funky with variegated yarns. I'm excited about it, I want to make it for him for Valentine's Day. I got a discount code from a podcast I was listening to about knitting (it's an obsession. Deal.)  and it expired Sunday so on Sunday I picked out two gorgeous skeins of yarn. One called Thunderstorm that's all dark greys and bits of dark blue, like rolling thunder clouds, and then one called Cypress that on the website looked like blues and grey-greens. They arrived today, which amazed me. Thunderstorm was just what I hoped it would be, it's GORGEOUS and perfect for the dark colour, but Cypress is too dark for the contrast colour. I really wanted something lighter, more blues/greys than greens but this was like pine green. It's very pretty hand dyed yarn, but not what I wanted. So, I had to go back and order more, but I couldn't decide between two blue/grey colourways, one was called Pearl something and one was called Paris Night and reminded me of Van Gogh's Starry Night.  And I don't trust the colours on the website because the pictures look way lighter than what I got. So, I bought both.  Hopefully one of them will be what I'm looking for and that will end the yarn buying. This is turning out to be more expensive than I wanted.  But I don't want to return Cypress, I'll eventually find a use for it, and it's so pretty. And I don't have much extra yarn in my stash. I have a good sized stash, but it all has a purpose, or a potential purpose, if I can only find enough time to do all the knitting I want to do.  So I'm excited to have something to just sit in my stash and be pretty. Maybe I'll make another hat with it.  We'll see.    And now I have to get a ball winder because I have a yarn swift I got for Christmas but no ball winder!!  I can't play with my new yarn until I get one, so Thursday after work I think I'll try Michaels.

I'm going to attempt to remember my password for my knitting livejournal, Sereknitty and see if I can get that going again. The last time I tried it I'd forgotten the password and couldn't get it.  I need to start putting all my knitting wordvomit there and stop driving all of you insane.  :)
