Happy Birthday Horatio!

Horatio turned 10 today. Well, I don't know that his birthday was actually today, I'm not sure what day he was actually born, as he was a stray kitty whose momma died.  But, he was about a month old when I got him, and I got him around my birthday in 1999, so I just went back a month and picked a date I liked. I decided the 4th sounded nice so that's the day I've always kept as his birthday.

My tiny little orange puffball that would hide under my dresser and attack my ankles when I'd walk by and cry if I went in the shower without him is now a big, fluffy, orange puffball who hides behind my Kaylee umbrella and attacks my ankles when I walk by and gets upset if I close the door to the bathroom when I have a shower.  It amazes me that he has the exact same personality he's always had. It sounds silly, but he has always been an ankle biter, he has always been very independent and vocal.  He will tell you exactly how he's feeling. He's never been much of a lap sitter and he's never really liked to be carried, or to be held like a baby and have his tummy scratched (even though I've been doing it for 10 years.) He has always liked coffee and pineapple and yogurt.  He has always waited for me at the door when I came home. He has always let me know the minute he uses his litterbox (Which I LOVE, let me tell you!)  And he has always liked to lick plastic bags.  And he still acts like a kitten. I thought as he got older he'd slow down a bit, but he still galumphs around the apartment and attacks his toys and jumps out at me when I'm not expecting it. He still goes mad chasing moths.  I can still get him to do back flips when he plays with his shoelaces. He drives me CRAZY sometimes, like how he drags my clothes or yarn around the house, or how he'll get up on the table even though he knows he's not supposed to.  Or how he'll wake me up at 6am on the weekend.  But, even though he does drive me nuts sometimes, he's still my kitty. He's been there with me for the last 10 years, and we've been through a lot. I hope he's around for another 10.   Happy birthday, mi gatito!
