Anyone for Heyer?

The next read for the Cornflower Book Group is A Civil Contract by Georgette Heyer. I’m an erratic member of the book club but seeing the latest choice made me want to read the book NOW, so I did. I wouldn’t say it was a favourite as when I feel Heyerish I probably need something fluffier than this. A Civil Contract was first published in 1961 so it’s a fairly late one (the author died in 1974); on the whole it’s the later books I prefer, not caring for the Alistair series. I won’t say more about the book now as it’s Cornflower’s show but if you’ve never read any Heyer you might be agreeably surprised by it. Also, as news breaks of yet another Jane Austen adaptation, why doesn’t someone film a Georgette Heyer novel? I think A Civil Contract would be a prime candidate.
