Well, I've been back in Michigan for a little over a year now. I have no doubts that moving back was the right thing to do. I'll be going over to my brother's house for dinner this evening, watching A Christmas Story for the hundreth time, and going to Midnight Mass. Tomorrow, I'm going to Wyandotte to take my Mother-in-law to MGM casino.... WHAT...gambling on Christmas Day? LOL Never say never! I would never have dreamed that I would be schmoozing with the one-armed bandits on Christmas day. However, this is what would make her happy and we will have a good Christmas lunch there instead of mediocre meal prepared by her. oops..did I say that out loud? Well, some people are geniuses in the kitchen and some aren't.
As usual, my joy in sharing time with my family is mixed with the profound sadness of not having some very important loved ones there. I lost my Dad in 1999, my dear Melissa in 2000, my Mother in 2003, and my husband, Jim, in 2008. In January I'm having some surgery that will either be a piece of cake or change my life forever....it's a crap shoot. In spite of this, I am glad to be alive and happy to be able to spend the holidays with my siblings and their kids and grandkids.
So for those few of you who come to LJ and read posts, I wish you a very happy Christmas, surrounded by family and friends and a joyous New Year.
