Well, tonight I did the unthinkable:

I exercised.

Yes, that sound you hear is the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Emily got four free passes to the Provo Rec Center for playing with her bluegrass people in an old folks' home, so she invited the rest of the Spinster Circle (our new, updated name. We can no longer be the braid brigade as Karen and I both chopped off our hair) to come do a Zumba class with her.

Can I just say, going from doing no exercise ever to forty-five mintues worth of bouncing and pumping and reading and hopping and skipping and leaning and stretching is NOT a good idea? The class was an hour long, but I quite 3/4 of the way through. I knew if I tried to make it to the end, I'd melt all over the floor and not revive.

Then we went and checked out the upstairs, and I tried out a few machines and Karen talked me into jogging one lap. That was also a bad idea. I tried out this crunchy machine thing, and it turns out I have nothing but marshmallows for abs. It was hard. At least we were all busy laughing...

In other related news, I don't exactly have what one calls "exercise clothes." I ended up wearing my black leggings under some short teal shorts that have never before been seen on my person outside of the privacy of my own home, and I classed it up with a Batman t-shirt and Superman sweatshirt. Super swanky. I also confessed to my fellow Spinsters that I don't own a sports bra and have never worn one. Emily was appalled, and Karen instructed me on the fine art of buying one at WalMart.

Earlier in the afternoon, Emily, Aleah and I went to look at a house Emily is considering buying. It was a condo overlooking Bicentennial Park, with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms going for $199,000. It was a really nice place, and had more counter space than mine, Emily's, and Karen's places combined (not a hard feat to accomplish). Someday, guys, someday, I, too, will own my own home. Someday.

And now I must go sleep off this exercise thing. Is it possible I won't be sore tomorrow...?

friends, blessed, not dead yet
