Said the Little Kangaroo

I have always had a class policy that my students are not allowed to talk in the hallway, punishable by death. Now it's an official school rule, too, meaning they can't get away with anything.

On one fine day this past week, I was bringing my students in from outside. In order to get upstairs to my classroom, we hike up half the stairs, rotate on the landing, and continue to the top. (Did that make sense? 'Cause it did in my head.) I was close to the top when I could hear voices drifting up from the end of my line, so I stopped, turned around, and said in my best teacher voice, "I'm waiting."

From down at the bottom, out of sight, came an adorable little child's voice: "...Me, too!"

I quickly turned around and led my kids to my classroom, trying *really* hard not to explode in laughter.
