I made this earlier today. I’m not much of a vegetable person but for some reason I told my mom I would be making pasta and salad. The Romaine lettuce was bought at an organic food store near the Baguio Cathedral (I bought it on Monday). It’s a bit pricey than the usual vegetables being sold at the market, but not as bad as the ones being sold in big supermarkets. The store is being managed by a group of nuns who train local farmers about organic farming.

I also bought spiced vinegar that a former colleague had made, which has now become internationally known (way to go man!), organic blueberries and peanuts with garlic chips which I won’t buy again because it was sweet. I prefer salted nuts with tons of garlic.

Unfortunately, I have yet to make a sauce from an actual tomato instead of from the can and the sauce I used came from my uncle’s in LA: Del Monte Traditional Style Spaghetti Sauce which in my opinion tasted a little bland. Though there’s the usual taste of a tomato with spices. I’m very much aware that most canned foods from the US taste bland that I end up dumping some flavoring to suit to my taste.

I’m an avid fan of organic farming, I even made a research paper about it. But it’s a bit expensive and I hope that there would come a time where everyone can buy it. If that happens, I’ll be more than happy to eat vegetables.

Update: I realized why the spaghetti sauce tasted bland. It was the low-sodium type of spaghetti sauce, the type that I hate.
