Ok so here is the deal with work.
As of the 25th of Feb I had completed, more or less, my training program. The less being that I still had to do my presentation, that was posponed til March 7th. The more being that I actually completed all the "training" that they had outlined the week before. This means I had lots of time to sit around and "perfect" my presentation prior to giving it.
This resulted in my kicking ass and taking first out of 12 in presentations.
So the confusing part of this whole situation: Back in August they informed us that while yes we were training at specific plants, they may not be the plants that we stay at. That at the end of our training we could be moved to one of the other plants. This decision would be made towards the end of our training program.
So that means I have been chomping at the bit for the last...ummm month and a half wanting/waiting to kow where I was going to end up.
I mean, I'd completed the training, I'd done my presentation. Now what am I doing?
Right before the presentations they also informed us that the tp 3 would come to corporate and present to the big bosses, along with getting an additional leadership training seminar, at the end of the month.
So yes I know that I get to go to colorado for 3 days at the end of the month...still not sure where i'm going to be to work work though.
Then Friday morning corporate comes to the plant to visit, including the head of HR-and mama of my training program. Within 5 minutes of talking to her she smiles real big and says "are you ready to move?"
this of course leads to a rainbow of emotions...anxiety, excitement, fear (hello I'm anti social and you want me to go meet an entire new plant?!?!?!).
But at the end of the day my plant head of HR says he wasnts to talk to me soon about getting a raise, and one of my many bosses tells me that he heard i was going to get to stay.
Shoot forward to this morning. I'm not "supposed" to know that i get to stay, so I ask my department boss (so the guy that if I stay will be my big boss) what he heard when corporate was here. He says he needs to talk to the plant foreman and get back to me. (dun dun dun)
2 hours later he pulls me in his office for a minute. Yea turns out corporate made the decision to leave me here, but that was based on the belief that one of the supervisors was going to retire within the next year. He is after all more than old enough and had been planning on retiring last year. So this makes it reasonable. EXCEPT that the economy sucks, he lost alot of his 401k, and hes not planning on retiring for 2-3years minimum. So that means my plant manager has to be 1)willing to "make up" a position so that I can stay at the plant, and thus add to the budget a salaried employee and 2) ask corporate that I stay even with this little issue.
But even then it's up to corporate, who actually when they bought out my plant over a year ago, cut the number of supervisors (including atleast 1 postion like the one that they would make for me to fill). So whats the big picture you ask? Not only do I STILL have no freaking clue if I get to stay, I know that my managers want me, but so do otehr plants managers. even though NOWHERE really has a slot open for me.
But hey, I might get a raise. :P
