Apr 10, 2013 10:02

Official RPD Tuesday Hiking Club schedule: Locations are subject to change so call 815-874-7576 to confirm. All hikes are free, fun and you just show up (aka drop in) for the 60 min. hike starting at 9 AM.

June 11-Espenscheid Memorial Forest Preserve

July 9th- Atwood Park( meet at Atwood Center)

August 13th- Kilbuck Bluffs Forest Preserve

Sep. 10th- Anna Page Park

While looking at this info in the Program Guide for '13, I saw that there's also "*Stewardship Saturdays" on select Saturdays and "*In The Outdoors" the other Saturdays at Atwood, check the schedule to be sure hehe. The Kishwaukee bus can get most of the way there ( Blackhawk and 11th st.) and I'm going to see how long the remaining distance is since "Stewardship Saturdays" looks fun, helping out the park for a couple hrs., snacks are provided and the 1st 1 this season is THIS Saturday from 9-11 AM.

Some of the "In The Outdoors" activities look fun too so I might be try to get to some of those too, depends on if I START WORK OR NOT!!! Hehe, I'm going to see when Alpine opens for summer and then estimate that training starts a week or 2 before....I'm glad this Saturday is nice weather and NO t storms! We had some earlier today, a little yesterday morning and a few days this week of storms are possible but Sat. is spared:)..might even get in some hoops at the park that day...

*Like the hikes, these activities are also all FREE:)

EDIT:4/11/13 9:45 AM: Couldn't find anything on Alpine in the way of opening dates:(..but the remaining distance to Atwood is only 1.2 miles and while I'm sure I can make it there in 20 mins., Atwood is also a park I've never been to so I'm going to go early and do some exploring 1st:)....I'm going to get some nature pics and maybe even some of the wildlife at the parks I visit. I know the pics won't be like those of northernillinoisbirder.blogspot.com but I'll do what I can hehe...
