January 10th is fast approaching, and a recent renewed interest in historical politics has revealed to me that perhaps my boycotting of Sandinista, the album almost unanimously disowned by The Clash is causing me to think I may have missed something important. Well, to be wholely honest Ian Malcom had something to do with it too...

Why do things end?

This is a question which represents a common theme in my life. Or perhaps it IS a common theme in my life. Can a question be a theme? Why are you asking me, I'm drunk.

I am of the perception that historically, endings are fierce things. I don't traditionally like them. Sandinista was the end to a great band and by many accounts not a very good end at that, so it makes relative sense that my first instinct would be to ignore it.

Punk Rock is viewed by many, even amongst it's ranks to be low brow. I've been guilty of calling it so too. It's a terrible shame that some of us brush it off so readily.

Don't misunderstand the purpose of this entry though. The 10th will still see my first report on The Clash. Though it's likely I shall write a second report solely on my experiencing Sandinista.

quest: why does the clash rock so hard
