Netflix: A Love/Hate Relationship

May 27, 2012 00:26

Wow.... been since September that I've posted here?
I could've sworn I knocked out a small post.... but I guess not?

Life is life.

I'm a college graduate! Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology.
Now I just need a job.

Spending my summer cherishing moments with friends. I'm moving to California mid-June until I can secure a job. Not looking forward to moving back into my dad's house, but at this point my choices are limited. Frankly, I'd rather live in a cardboard box in someone's closet, but I guess a bed's much nicer.

I've been sitting around here all day today doing nothing but watching my TV, most notably in the last, oh, 8 to 10 hours, watching movies on Netflix. When I got my PS3 I got a 30-day free trial, so I figured I'd watch as many Gay and Lesbian movies as I can (watching them on my dad's Netflix brings more problems than warranted). Right now I'm watching some Mexican-themed movie. Dunno the name at the moment, but it's decent. I've been kinda double-tasked on YouTube so my attention from the plot is lost. Add to that it's in Spanish, so I'm relying on subtitles.

So far though, I've watched Shank, Latter Days, and Yossi & Jagger. I've watched Latter Days more than I can count, but Shank and Yossi & Jagger were new ones to me:

- Shank is a British-themed surrounds the story of a gang member who's struggling to come out of the closet, who has a huge crush on one of his gang mates. They like to cause all kinda of trouble, and at one point, he falls in love with a victim of gay-bashing. Story ends with him being raped by the mate he crushes on, and leaves Bristol with his new boyfriend, Olivier, set for a new life.

- I'm sure many of you have heard about and/or seen the film about Yossi & Jagger, but if you haven't, it surrounds 2 Israeli soliders on the border of Lebanon, Yossi being the Commander of a battalion, and Lior, or Jagger (because of his smooth moves) being the second-in-command. Yossi and Jagger have this loving, yet secretive relationship that they keep from their comrades. But during an ambush gone wrong, Jagger is mortally wounded by explosives planted beneath them, and dies in the arms of Yossi, who finally confesses his love for Jagger. [I admit, it's the sweetest, shortest film I've seen in ages].

The queue on Netflix is LONG. And I'm sure as I continue to look through the movies they have to offer, it'll only get longer.
But I was just thinking about this journal, so I decided to update it. Hope anyone that reads this is doing well.

: )
