YOU DARE ME: March 2013 Dare

Jan 03, 2013 00:00

And March's nominations are in! We had a total of 15 people make 43 nominations, which is actually down from February, but given the fact I was stupid enough to post the request for nominations on Christmas day, and asked for those nominations through New Year's, I figure it's my own damn fault. Let's make the number of nominations bigger for April, okay? It's your only chance to tell me what to read! :)

We've talked about how the tallies work ad nauseam, so I'll not rehash that here. Your dare to me is determined by the year-to-date totals for each nominated book, so here's how March shook out:

1) Lois McMaster Bujold's The Warrior's Apprentice with 14 nominations.

2) Michelle Sagara's Cast in Shadow with 9 nominations.

3) Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Chosen with 7 nominations.

So of course, your March Dare to Me is (finally) ….

The Warrior's Apprentice (1986)
Written by: Lois McMaster Bujold
ISBN: 9780671720667

Synopsis

Miles Vorkosigan is the leader of a fast growing mercenary force and the hero of an all-out space battle. At the end of the conflict, he heads a fleet of 19 ships and 3,000 troops. The only problem is, it is treason--as in, a hanging offense--to command a private army.

So how will it work? In March (or maybe a tick before), I will read this book. You, dear readers, are welcome to read along, but you don't have to. After all, this is YOUR dare to me. I'll announce MY dare to YOU in March, so don't worry. :) But for those of you who want to follow along, please note, I may post my review of this any time during the month of the Dare, so if you do want to read, read it on your own time and your own pace. You know I always welcome discussion at any time, so even if you're "late," it's all good!

Now that March has been decided, what about next month? Well, March's nominations will carry over to April's tallies, but for April, you're welcome to nominate any book you want out of the TBR. I won't be surprised if some of the books that weren't picked end up getting selected over the next few months, but who knows? It's all up to you!

Happy Reading!
