I don't know that it quite qualifies as horror, but A Night in the Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny is a Halloween CLASSIC.

Sorry to comment again--however, I was trying to think of something to suggest for October, and I had a thought. I've read a lot of horror, or at least scary, eerie, or mysterious literature, but at first I drew a blank for a proper book club pick.

I love ghost stories, but most of the ghost stories I've read are short stories rather than full-length novels. And then, I thought of a book I've read numerous times, an October staple for me, and a classic:

The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Arthur Conan Doyle ( ... )
