Book Club: Need Themes and Suggestions!

Okay, there's enough people INTERESTED in a monthly book challenge that I'd like to try and get something rolling for the month of September. But that means I need YOUR help ASAP, because I'd like to get the poll up before the end of the month so you all can vote and have the title of the book for September

Rex, Adam - True Meaning of Smekday (nonwhite heroine)
Turner - King of Attolia (notice you haven't posted a review of it yet)

Pratchett - The Nation, or one of the Tiffany Aching books
Prineas - The Magic Thief
Pearson - The Adoration of Jenna Fox
McKinley - Chalice
Scalzi - Zoe's Tale
Wilce - Flora Segunda, Flora's Dare,
Alison Goodman - Eon: Dragoneye Reborn
Larbalestier - How to Ditch your Inner Fairy (didn't care for this, but lots of people did)

I like the idea of classics and would welcome suggestions of really good ones (such as DUNE). I recently listened to Silverberg's Lord Valentine's Castle (lots of flaws!). Some of Heinlein's juveniles have barely held up, considering there were no cell phones or computers in his day, which makes some of it laughable. Asimov, Lackey, McCaffrey, Willis, who else? What else?

I had to read LORD VALENTINE'S CASTLE in 2006. Hated it.

Just read your review of LVC and I have to agree with every one of your objections. The escape from inside the dragon was what drove me over the edge. I only finsihed it because someone in the bookstore highly recommended it and I kept waiting for something special or awesome to happen at the end.
