http://www.livejournal.com/users/wherever_i_rome/21151.html?#cutid1 I'm psychologically damaged by the fact that Tulane is restructuring the entire university. I feel like I had two years at TU, this weird/limbo/break year, and now I'll transfer to a whole new school when I get back. they can't claim to retain the spirit of the university and then required 2nd year students to live on campus in communities with professors. i'm not saying i think it's a bad idea, it's just really really different. i also wonder how the hell they're going to manage that given the limitations of space. i guess a hurricane knocking down buildings cleared up some space, maybe. i really have no idea. anyway, it will change a lot of the character of the school. i'm traumatized, but slightly excited. it's like the opportunity to attend 3 colleges in 4 years. old tulane, universita di firenze, and new tulane. i'm really upset about the changes to newcomb. i freaking love newcomb. it was so perfect. i really wanted to go to an all women's college like smith or mount holyoke, but then i decided i wanted a big city and a little more interaction with those funny things called males (biggest mistake ever. why did i want to interact with them? ok ok, my life would be senseless without the presence of chris turner-neal and several others, but still...), and so newcomb was the perfect combination.
i'm def worried by the contradictory messages. tulane would have me believe that new orleans is almost as good as new by now. that article would have me believe it's a pile of rubble. i am on a different continent and have no real way of knowing...
comunque, i'm going to be home in less than a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
