The parisiens

So now I have to speak about the Parisiens. If you really really love them, please don't hate me for saying the following and this is not a completely generalizable statement as some Parisiens I've met here don't fit this description but here it goes: A lot of Parisiens are haughty, arrogant and rude. You know, I took 5 years of French and was really good at it. Now, since I haven't studied it in 5 years, I'm a little rusty but I've been trying really hard to speak french when I've interacted with the French (I want to speak French!). But instead of helping me or understanding that I'm trying, they stare at me and/or they laugh...to my face! It's distgusting! Honestly, I completely understand that when you're in another country you should try to speak the language and obey the customs...key word "try" and I have but they just look down on me anyway. I really don't understand it...and it makes me livid!! They really do seem to think that they're better than us....and in reality, they listen to American music and watch American movies...and wear Levi's jeans (what's with that anyway?)...so they should really appreciate when someone trys to be part of their culture even if they're not perfect!

By the way, we went to the Louvre today...one word: breathtaking! Honestly, that is the biggest and the coolest museum ever! Got to see Mona Lisa, The crowning of Napoleon and countless cool paintings and sculptures (man did the ancient Greeks and Romans know how to sculp a hot male body!) I'll post pictures when I get home in the new year!;-)
